how can u say this when the window stickers clearly 360 Challenge Stradale?

    im baffled

    its a 360 - it looks like a 360 - the window sticker says 360 - service records say 360

who cares what the marketing brochure says? Ferrari calls the car the 360 CS...its in black and white on the sticker - how can it be any more official? if it was officially NOT a 360 they wldnt put 360 on there

i don't want to beat this to death, but is it fair to say that there is probably only one "official" name for a given Ferrari? does Ferrari have a history of giving more than one official name to a given car? anyway, assuming they only give one official name then let's see if we can figure out what it is :) so far we have seen different names on three different documents including the window sticker, service records and the official Ferrari Owner's Manual that was included with every car made.

I'd guess that Ferrari would put the "official name" of the car on the owner's manual, right?

I guess you can call your Stradale whatever you want, but i'm not comfortable using the window sticker as the source for the "official" name of a car. i think you're on thin ice, but i could be wrong :)

Who cares?? Haha...I can see why CS owners wanna be seperated from a normal 360 but still...I guess mainly bc of the price difference and exclusivity and it happens with corvette, Porsche etc too... We must have nothing important to debate about these days.. lol

From my technical analysis, the CS will never reach a price demanding a huge premium. the reason is a simple one: to convert a regular 360 to a CS you only have to spend X amount of money and this X is a fixed value if you add all those parts together , of course, plus labor.

I, as in a country that literally sold zero CS when it was in production and has just 1 or 2 grey market imports, has had this conversion project in mind for a while. I think the most difficult part is the wiring in the center console and ecu swap. Trev maybe able to chime in for some insights. The engine has 25 more HP? come on, who really cares? after you replaced those stock exhaust the modena will be more than 400hp anyways.

Anybody has any input on my comment?

Lol...I'll assume you meant as a joke. Good one!

Replicas/conversions whatever one calls them are an age old know issue with cars. My favorite and easy to understand example is 65 mustang fastback to Shelby GT350 conversation. You can literally literally make an identical car out of the regular mustang. That fact has no impact in gt350 values. Same could be said for any limited edition camaro or corvette. Just change the engine and a few drive train bits, right?

Not to mention a CS is worth around 2x an 04 Modena more or less. That's pretty significant.

it wasn't intended as a joke. But I do understand what you are saying.

I guess our perspectives are different.

My perspective is " i want to drive a CS" and I assume that your perspective is "i want to collect a real CS"

maybe your perspective is more realistic ( or "more correct")
    lolololol

the price for a CS now is more than 2x a regular modena, in a lot of cases, more than 3 times

    ( 75k modena vs 250k CS)

I'm a driver, drive mine plenty. Don't collect cars.

You made a comment about value, not driving....so I didn't really follow your saying you meant it as in how it drives. To your point I'm sure the mustang replica gt350 drives the same as a real Shelby if converted properly.

got you, so my guess is wrong.

As I understand it, if a real identical conversion will not affect the market value of the CS and the value of the converted vehicle is significantly less than the true CS, that means the real value vested in the VIN. What do you think?

The Challenge Stradale is clearly a 360, but Ferrari chose to name it Challenge Stradale rather than 360 Challenge Stradale and I cannot find any owner's manual or shop manual designation for this car other than Challenge Stradale. It's probably not wrong to refer to it as a 360 Challenge Stradale, but that is not the official name. I also refer to my GT3 as a 911 GT3, but I know officially it is called GT3. Funny thing is that I have a movie ticket stub labelled Die Hard 3 but it was officially called Die Hard With A Vengence! I think everybody just calls it Die Hard 3.

Wonder if there is a similar discussion over in the 599 forum in regards to the GTO/599 GTO?

What really amazes me is that this car stickered for $187k base and after 11 years, it fetches more than that!

I am not surprised a lot of cars are getting more than what they were originally stickered at after 10 or so years! Examples are Ford GT, e30 m3, BMW Z8, porshe 993 turbo... Etc.

Bmw Z8 and Ford GT were not based on an existing platform, nor did they have a follow up model. The CS was based on a relatively common platform and had similar track-focussed follow up models with the 430 Scuderia, so it really surprises me that they are getting $200-299k. If I had to predict the 10 year price, I would have pegged it at $110-130k. I am delighted, of course because I bought mine for dirt cheap years ago!

Can't explain the crazy prices for 993 turbos. I know about the whole last of the air cools but geez, they are $200-300k as well! I will take a CS over a 993 in a heartbeat!

Because if you take a standard car and either make or buy a bunch of parts to reproduce the look/feel of the real thing, it's called a knock off.

It's kind of like watches, handbags, shoes, etc. I know you have have to get it.
