Well, in that sense, yes it is a knockoff CS. Should I stop thinking of the conversion because it is just so wrong?
Not necessarily IMO. I think Trevor wanted a manual 360 Challenge Stradale and set out to build his manual 360 into that, and someone wanted a Spider Challenge Stradale, and built that from a crashed Challenge Stradale and a Spider if I recall correctly. So, if it is an economic way to experience what you desire, I don't see a problem with that.
if you want to do the conversion, do it. who cares what some people 1/2 a world a way thinks. my guess is that the conversion will cost a whole lot of money though. May be less expensive to get the real thing, or a scud.
The thing is, we don't have a real CS here. China banned used imports as well. I know a couple of CS here in china, both were not allowed to be registered in the local dmv equivalent. That leaves me with no recourse.
This one seems like a good deal considering all of the pricing hysteria lately. No? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/cnc-motors/486836-2004-ferrari-challenge-stradale.html#post143921304
Yup! Not just 993 turbos, but 993's in general. Love them air cooled, wide body cars. Met up with a buddy today that just acquired a silver/black 993TT. Hot dayum. I'm not overly concerned about the exact nomenclature. However, it was built on a 360 platform and body so I'm fine with it being a 360. Prefix it with 306, 036, 603, 063, 630 CS, it doesn't really matter... people know it as a Challenge Stradale with or without the number designation preceding CS. At the end of the day, it's an iconic (modern) Fcar with a loyal following and great sound (out of the box) to boot! I'm curious as I don't remember... did Ferrari launch and market the spider version of the 430 Scuderia as simply the 16M Spider or 430 Scuderia 16M spider? Again, whether "430" or even "430 Scuderia" was used it doesn't really matter, people know it as a bada$$, limited edition, last of the ragtop, hardcore, track focused Fcars. Buy it yo
I don't think it matter what people call it. Most people don't even know what the difference b/t CS vs the 360 is. People in my family just know I have a Ferrari. they think it's new. Other than that, I can call it a 360 Scuderia Aperta GTO and they would nod their heads in agreement.
That sold a long time ago LOL! Exactly. I've had people ask me if it's the latest Mustang... I say, why yes!
Truly, a CS is only worth what people are willing to pay. You can desire, crave, or need a CS but if you do not have the resources it takes to own one or you are not willing to pay the current price for one, let it go or wait until the stars align for you to acquire one. Sure, you can make a "knock-off" but a factory CS is indeed the holy grail of the 360 series.
What's up brother? I might be ready for a under 20k miles CS again. As you know I should have never sold mine but think one would make a good stable mate for my FF. Any thoughts or line on good ones. No yellow please
I guess Dupont doesn't delete old ads... thanks for info. I was thinking "man, that seller doesn't know the market at all".
How about this 'knockoff'? If nothing else, at least the badging says Challenge Stradale. lol photocredit dubaidrives Image Unavailable, Please Login
wish me luck if i bought that true CS, I will post a picture of a 360 modena knockoff transform a CS to a comestic modena!
I think the mirror is wrong and the rear window is glass, not plexan with the CF support. rear diffuser may be missing inferior fins? Can't really tell but I think the rear lip is square (like 360) and not slope (like 360CS)
excellent eye for detail mate....never knew the little horse on the gas flap was only on the CS...however i think it became standard on the 430 onwards?
Nope F430 and onward did not have Cavallino on gas flap, only on the interior gas cap. CS was the only one to have it on the flap itself. The 360 in the pic is also sitting way too high to be a CS, dead giveaway right there.
Cosmetically it is missing all of those items plus gas door, rear bumper, side skirts (CS ones are longer/lower and don't curve under at the bottom like Modena's), exhaust tips (and exhaust) and I'm sure it's missing CS front bumper, windshield and of course, all the interior bits and internal parts that makes it a true CS. Adding a few parts to a Modena doesn't warrant a CS badge. CS gas door is has an indentation Nope
