488 GTB (458 replacement)

Another interesting side intake design there. I like that one too. Wonder if this was (or still is) a 458 setup as a test mule to see if this other scoop design feed enough air.

Funny how they have different wheels front/back

 

Somewhat bland compared to the vent on the 488.

Black splitters. That didn't take long.

 

I think they're carbon fiber...my friend spec'd his 488 with CF side slats/splitters a few days ago.

 

We all knew they were coming. And yes they are CF

To all the clowns complaining about the appearance of the body colored splitter HAHA.

I'm cheap, prolly wrap mine in gloss black IF I don't like the body colored look.

Odds are the 488 looks even better in the flesh

 

Was thinking about ur earlier wrap suggestion when I saw them in cf. I'll go wrap all the way!

 

Obviously, this is only my opinion but this is far from beautiful, light years away from the 458.

I'll agree those pics are most unfortunate, though.

 

yes, they are unfortunate. i had a much better impression in geneva. nevertheless, the 458 speciale is unrivaled as far as looks go.

I agree, to me doesn't look as striking as a 458, the front is too overly round I think but more bothersome for me is the fact they tried to make part of it look like LaFerrari. The 458/430 were did not have overly Enzo styling elements so why does this car borrow so heavily from La Ferrari.

Enzo/La Ferrari deserve to have their very own unique identity, so does every Ferrari model in fact.

 

Not quite following you here. The 430 was the evolution of the 360, and in terms of design elements, it borrowed heavily from the Enso. The 360 was very clean looking, but I think the 430 was a bit of a mess - never grew fond of that one. In terms of design, the 458 was a clean sheet so to speak, and it did not borrow anything from either the 430 or the Enzo as far as I can see. Now the 488 is out, and like the 430 did with the Enzo, it borrows from the LaF. Personally, I think it does this way better than the 430 did from the Enzo, and I actually really like the 488, but that is of course an entirely personal matter

 

Not entirely 'clean sheet'. It has very strong echoes of the 308 which is, no doubt, heavily referenced.

 

The contrasting color in the middle of the vent looks out of place. Also it draws further attention to the huge gaping cavern in the fender...

 

Do any pictures exist yet of the 488 GTB that someone mentioned seeing that is painted yellow?

Wow.

I've seen that paint in real life on an FF and it was unbelievable. Looks really dramatic on the 488.
