Taking a poll here as I don't feel like trying to search the forum. Johnk claims GTS/berlinetta are not selling so if you have bought or sold one in the past 6 months please take part in the poll.

This is a going to be an excellent thread. All I can contribute is that I purchased a 95 GTS red/Blk with 15,500 miles late 2012. The market was still pretty much bottomed out. Going to be interesting to see what FCHAT folks come up with here as these cars seem to be on an upswing.

Bought a 95 GTS euro car that is famous here. Currently testing the Ferrarichat f355 market valuation technique with it . LOL

In all seriousness however, it appears that the board has hyped up the sales of these cars substantially. All I see are high ask numbers, which are by no means indicative of what a final sale number is. Nor is a completed ebay listing because they are not binding contracts for sale.

I don't deny that there is a shortage of gts's for sale, but they are not 100 granders yet!

 

Bought my 348TB in November, right at the 6 month mark

 

What will poll results really say though? If it's a relatively low #...is it because there isn't demand, or because there's so few on the market? Regardless there's a GTB in my garage that's not on the market

 

Bought my '91 348 TS in late Nov / early Dec from Ferrari of Houston with 11,200 on the odometer.

 

There's no option to vote no.

 

Isn't that like having a poll asking if obama is the worst president of all times and them only letting people vote no?

 

Whoever answered "I have purchased a GTS in the past 6 months," please post pictures!

 

I'm polling the members here to see how many have been bought and sold. How could an option for "no" help accomplish that? And no, it's nothing like your example because that's asking someone's opinion, not what they have done.

If we were hyping the market, wouldn't we be selling right about now... ?

Prices are up all over the globe from Europe to Japan and South Africa to Australia. 10 guys on this forum do not have that kind of power to single handedly push prices on 10,000 built cars... We just report what we see. Thnanks.

I'll trust the what I see on dealer lots and in adds before I believe a FChat poll, anonymous at that. And I'm looking at what's happening today and into the future, not what happened 6 months ago. Who bout a 355 GTB within the last 2 weeks? Who expects to buy one in the next month? Why haven't any of the 7 GTBs on cars.com sold?

Who paid over $80k for their GTB? Please post a picture of you tittle and sales documents.

 

I will add that I spent the afternoon discussing the possibility of selling my 308 GTB QV. The basic comments was that if I want to sell, sell it now as prices are coming down for all cars.

 

This is obviously not a brand new car with thousands sitting on lots. You keep claiming that these are not selling and yet members are always posting either "wanted" or "it arrived".

Ok guys, who bought a berlinetta within the last 14 seconds? No one? Ok they are not selling.

 

So John, just to summarize, is the following correct?

You believe that-

-If someone here says they bought a car you do not believe them

-private sales are not to be believed

-If it's more than 80k you don't believe them and if they post proof they were "suckered by the f-chat type"

-since all members purchases and private sales are to be dismissed, 7 berlinettas across the entire United States is a flood of the market

-If the sale of a 20 year old car didn't occur within the last 2 weeks it is insignificant

 

No. What I believe is that there are more Bs on the market that there have been in years and that the smart money is trying to unload cars at the top.

I am right there with you but folks should also post a picture of their drivers license and a recent credit report as well, right? Those are harder to "fake".

Oh and maybe a bank statement just showing the balance (account numbers blacked-out, obviously!).

Congratulations. I'm sure you will enjoy the car. FWIW I spent about 1 1/2 hours discussing the possible consignment of my 308 GTB QV today and was advised that if I wanted to sell it, do it now as prices do seem to be coming down across the board.

 

Maybe people are starting to realize that the 308 isn't a very good car and they'd be better off putting their money into a 355?

 

Guys why is a simple, fact-based thread asking simply for hard information turning into a debate?

There are plenty of 355 value threads and debates that have been ongoing for a while now. Shall we allow this thread to be hijacked and turned into a 355 p*ssing contest?

The original poster asked for some polling. I piggy-backed (gratuitously) and asked for some pictures. Not much to debate about!

 

Actually, based on the numbers we discussed, you have it backwards. But then there aren't a lot of 1 owner, relatively low mileage, 99% original 85 308 GTB QVs in the world.

 

Tons of pictures on the net. How about tittles or sales contacts?

 

Looks like no Fchaters 355/348 owners have sold any so far, or willing to admit selling.
