Would you replace your F430/Scuderia with new 991 GT3?

    I would but only if I could convert the rear of the car to add back in the two seats for school pickup days like the older versions. That to me really makes the GT3 special, the fact that I could get two kids from school in an emergency.

    it wasn't meant to be fair.
    it was in response to "never replace Ferrari with Porsche". There are Ferraris out there which aren't as desirable as certain Porsches.
    and I am a Ferrari owner. However, I give respect to other marques when warranted.

    Honestly, I wouldn't trade a Ferrari for a Porsche either. I appreciate that Porsches are great cars but they're just not for me. If I could have one more Ferrari in my garage by forgoing the Porsche, I would do it.

    I would keep the Ferrari and seriously consider a 2010+ Cayaman PDK and them modify it. Buy slightly used for $55K and $25k of mods and you can have a blistering fast easy to resell well balanced street race car.

    Or think about a Radical SR3 RS

    The Ferrari scud is so sexy and collectible you still need a Ferrari for the smiles and miles

    In the traditional sense, no.

    Modern collectible cars: Z8, 997.2 RS, 4.0 RS and I am sure there are others. These cars are selling for the same if not more than they sold for new. Increasing in value.

    Scuderia collectible? Maybe someday. Years from now I would be surprised if it didn't start increasing in value. At present Scuderias are still selling for a little more than half of what they sold for in 08/09.

    Well I guess the 991 GT3 RS will blow everybody away when it arrives as the 991 GT3 is seemingly already better than the 997 4.0 GT3 RS with 500 Hp

    yep, I hate absolute statements.

    What I would say is, it's hard to not have an exotic after having one. I intend to keep one, and ADD cars... so that's my suggestion to you Ken. Keep it and just add the other haha

    Having recently purchased a Scud. and owning several other Ferraris also .. The scud is such an unbelievable car to drive. It is just an exciting car to drive at any speed, SO i cannot imagine selling my Scud for ANY current car.. I really like it that much .. I am considering adding a turbo S but that is different..
    So I say keep the Scud.. I know of all my cars I would really miss the Scud..
    Regarding mileage I say drive the cars that is what they are made for.. the older ferraris always have lots of miles my dino has 46000 miles on the original engine and it runs great.....

    well, guys I'm very fortunate to have a Porsche GT3 997, a 360 CS and a Scuderia, I just love these type of cars and just hate turbo cars.
    I am big ferrari guy and I'm completely passionate about them.
    In regards to this thread I have say that Porsche GT3 models are really amazing car, I really love driving them and I cannot wait to see and drive the new one, but to sell a Scuderia to buy a GT3, I personally would not do it.
    The scuderia is just something else, everything about it, it's a pure racing car on the road, pure joy to drive and an amazing feeling to get to drive it well.
    My best advice would be to keep the Scuderia and wait when you can buy a GT3 even used after, when the prices start going down.
    To be able to drive these two type of cars and experience the feelings these two type of cars give you, is very interesting and pretty high up there in my book.
    So keep the Scuderia and buy yourself a GT3. Good luck on your choice

    I said no last time but after spending a week at Nurburgring and taking part in Scuderia Hanseat : Home I am no longer so sure. On a track like Nurburgring the 991 GT3 is a serious tool and after a week I am actually thinking about changing the Scuderia for a 991 GT3 club sport... Didn't expect that coming...

    I am going to post a contrarian view to what most people have posted.
    I am a new owner of an '08 Scud. In miles though I guess I am an old timer in Ferrari terms, in the past month I have put in over 1500 miles, at least a third of those on track!
    I have also owned Porsche's and own a Jaguar F-Type R.
    The Scud is an amazing car, especially on the track. I am less impressed with it on the street. It is fast, raw, and nimble, but only at higher RPM levels and when you are pushing the car.
    If you are going to track the car regularly (as I do, it is my track toy), then the Scud is hard to beat, I would say the only competition is a 991GT3RS or a Speciale.
    If you are looking for everyday fun and occasional tracking there is a slew of cars I would recommend over the Scud, and a few that would surprise Ferrari owners.
    To date the most enjoyable car to drive daily and on track bar none goes to the 2011-2012 Porsche Boxster Spyder. The car just puts a smile on your face every time you drive it, and its fun at ANY speed. It does not have the capabilities of the Scud on track or off, but its a blast, especially with the top down. I will definitely add one back to my garage in the near future. I would also get it with either a Fabspeed Race Exhaust or the Porsche Sports Exhaust. I owned one with a Fabspeed that I put in and drove it over 30k before I sold it last year.
    If you want more oomph than the Spyder, go with a Jag F-Type R. Another car that is fun to drive everyday, and enjoyable at ANY speed. The Scud just does not come alive until you are over 5000 RPM, and then you are already well over 60 MPH in 2nd gear. The Jag is an event to drive everyday, especially when you have the sport exhaust turned on.

    Everything I said deals only with the car, its handling, and the sensations you get from that.
    If you add in the reactions you get from people etc... then the Ferrari is impossible to beat.

    If I were the OP I would wait a few more years and keep the Scud if you can only have one car.

    One of the problems for me is that there is a 10 hour drive to Nurburgring. Driving that distance in a Scuderia, well, lets say, not enjoyable ;-) The GT3 however, not a problem and almost as fun to drive. Not sure what to do...

    Another thing that bothers me is that if you want your Porsche set up properly for the Nordschlife, there seems to be 50 or more racing companies with extensive knowledge on how to do it correctly, and at a fair price. With a Ferrari there are absolutely no one to assist you in setting it up. Even if you ask around, this knowledge is extremely hard to find or not within reach. The Ferraris are just not being raced in the same way as Porsches...

    Keep both if you can... Otherwise, FERRARI !!!!! Most of us here including myself have some sort of Porsche experience but chose to to Italian... Stay Italian...

    For the street, no contest...the Scud is way more involving. For the track, the Porsche is more practical and actually faster and way cheaper to maintain. I have owned a GT3 cup, GT3 997.1 and currently own a Scud. Street cars are no match to a factory built dedicated race car (cup or challenge). They are all fun but the buyer needs to determine how the car will be used.

    The Scuderia is only going to appreciate and is equal if not more fun than the GT3 - why would you part with it?

    Sure they are an Icon (and so is Porsche too) but they are also a pain in the a.. to deal with. I am just getting really tired of not finding any real source for information on tuning and setup, that's all. About the appreciation of the Scud it is definitely going up in Europe, i would say 25-30% lately. But the Porsche GT3 RS seems to be going up much more...

    The Porsce eventually will start depreciate. Too many, nothing special about them. The scuderia will only appreciate in the future. Keep the scud and wait for a couple of years to get a good deal on the Porsche.

    I have both a 991 gt3 and scuderia and they are a perfect match. They compliment weakness of each car. My scud is an 08 but you cannot say its a 7 year old car. Always an event to drive. GT3, its the best/balanced porsche ive owned, and ived owned a couple.
    Its up there almost with the ride quality, handling and feel of a scud. I say almost, but not at par with a scud. There is one thing it surpasses a ferrari, quality of built. The craftmanship is better than a ferrari. I am waiting on my RS but i have second thoughts if i am parting with my GT3. Parting with my scud, hell NO!
