Maybe that's so they can hang it on the wall at car shows ... I have a friend who will be there so I'm sure he'll have photos and something to say.
I could be out in left field here because I haven't seen the car up close & personal, but with such voluptuous body forms and surface development, then to tack that THING on the rear just leaves me scratching my head. But as I like to say.....'someone must like it' 'cause they put it on there
Me too. The worst design point of the car. I was expecting more from this Hommage. True. These were days.
The exterior of Bangle's 6-series has really grown on me - I just had to get used to it first. I still prefer the pre-Bangle interiors though, the dashboards were nicer. All the best, Andrew.
I used to own a 3.0 CSi and the concept does sort of look like a Group 5 version, with artistic add on pieces that kind of ruin it. The wings on the original Group 5 were almost square at the door lines on most versions. I do not understand the front wings on this car. Just weird and ugly, although maybe that is a way to get around the stupid European headlight rules in future concepts while keeping the nose lower by mounting the headlights there?? I dumped the BMW for a 1969 Alfa 1750 GTV and had cash left over 20 years ago. Compared to the Alfa the BMW was a tank.
CSL concept looked amazing in the metal. Proportions were perfect and what looked fussy in the pics wasn't.
current college age guys grew up with transformers, so what looks fussy today will be simple 20 yrs from now. remember when the 1996 gen 2 viper gts was considered cartoonish by the magazine "designers". we're way past that now in current production cars. witness corvette, porsche gt3rs, mclaren, aventador, etc
At first I was as alienated as any by his designs but over time I appreciate his boldness in a time of timid conformity.
As many do. I find it amusing that although so many dislike Bangle design the Japanese and Koreans had no problem copying them. Oddly his e90 three series sedan, the bread and butter model, was his worst.
I never understood the negativism towards Chris. He put BMW off in a new direction that was successful more often than not, but I think the average BMW guy at the time was resistant to change of any kind.........kinda like Ferrari guys are. Keep moving or die....
agree that bangle was good as a visionary. just needed more time to refine the style. he should still be at bmw. btw, where is he now?
What do I know. Mine is the "ugly" Ferrari. The GT/4. You found its two best angles. No the e90 has never done it for me and I have an e91 and an e92. The new 328 sedan is prettier but certainly not innovative. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks, but the Worst thing for a car (or person) is to be "discovered". These days everyone wants to talk money not cars.
