A pile of money is dull, it just sits there; a car is interesting, you can go for a drive. :)

    All the best,

Peter Stephens does a nice analysis of the seminal Alfa Tipo 33 Stradale
The late '60's had the Italian Designers slowly shifting from the soft, round voluptuous forms of the 275 GTB, P4, etc to what was to be a much more rigid form language of the '70's.
This Alfa was one of the last of the '60's era s
    'soft designs language' cars...

I am reminded of the quote that Phd. stood for "pile it higher and deeper".
"aerodynamic aids...to guide air through and stabilize the vehicle"
    Who writes this stuff?
Can we see some aero numbers on that please?

It's a bit of a shame they could no longer contract the design to Bertone (or Giugiaro) who did the original car...

You should read the comic strip by Jorge Cham called Piled Higher and Deeper. It's like Dilbert for postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

every time I read aero claims, I just roll my eyes
it sounds good when the PR types put that tripe out, but I too would like to see the 'real' numbers
having spent hundreds of hrs in the wind tunnel, it ain't as easy as they make it sound
unfortunately there is no real comparison between wind tunnels at the various companies......so what one company claims may not be true in another tunnel
I loved it when we would read the #'s claimed by various mfg and then test them in our tunnel and get wildly different #'s......was always good for a few laughs :)

Not so much once it's worth that proverbial pile of money. Other behaviors follow as well. The originality fetish for example. The tool kit craze ... :D

Mania breeds mania to be sure but the historical value of originality predates the run up.

    Cartoon son gout?

I mean cartoon in the old artistic sense. As in preliminarily and conceptual.
the exaggeration and impracticality say cartoon whether you like them or not. I do find some engaging, if not fully formed.
It wouldn't matter if so many of the designs produced didn't retain so much of the exaggeration.

Now here's one you don't see everyday...from Auto & Design on Facebook:
    CONCORSO D'ELEGANZA VILLA D'ESTE
The 1953 Pegaso Z-102 "Berlineta Cupula" awarded with the Trofeo Auto & Design - For the most exciting design by the Jury
The award was presented by the Editor of A&D, Silvia Baruffaldi.
On the next day, Sunday, the car also won the award from the youngest public at Villa Erba: the BMW Group Ragazzi Throphy (assigned by the under 16 people).

Tire to body relationship was an unknown commodity then..

So are you saying that it perhaps melted over all these years? I could buy into that theory.
