Long story short is I have a dear friend (more brother than just friend) who is loosing his battle with cancer and I want to sit on the beach with him and enjoy the sunset and his company.

    1-2 day's is all I request.

I usually use homeaway.com for those kinds of things. Usually you can get a beach house at something reasonable.

I just booked a house in Port Aransas for cheaper than most Holiday Inn Express rates, during the first week of June. I think I used home a way.

Part of a week long road trip. We're going from the last race at TWS in College Station to NASA JSC (woohoo! Booked the Level Nine Tour, look it up) then spend a few days on the beach, followed by a night in Austin and a night in Dallas.

All Texas beaches are open to the public so you can stay anywhere and still spend as much time on the beach as desired. Just have to find the public access points.

Sorry, lost our Beach House in Hurricane Ike and then sold the property.

The West End of Galveston is really nice and has plenty of houses for rent.

I considered it! It's a much better beach out there. But we have some things to do in Texas on the trip.

It's a long summer, you never know. PM me the link or the VRBO property number again.

My half-sister has access to several of her aunt & uncles properties in Jamaica Beach facing the bay, problem is most of the year they stay rented out. (four of the properties are in the photo) It really is nice down there except how dirty the gulf shoreline is polluted with seaweed the county takes it time removing.

Late reply but I have decided against this idea, just gonna chill at home. My buddy who I was hoping to spend a few days with surf fishing and eating seafood is not doing well as his cancer has become very aggressive. I want to say thank you to everyone who has taken the time to reply.

Update: Things have taken a change for the better as I received a invite from a fellow Fchatter. Sadly my friend James will not be able to join me but I am so very grateful for the invitation.

    Good times.

I thought the whole point of this was to say goodbye to your friend/brother in a nice setting. If he now cannot travel, would you not rather stay close to his bedside in his final hours than go on the trip without him?

    All the best,
    Andrew.

So you're using your friend's cancer as a way of grabbing a beach vacation for yourself?

He probably fabricated the story in hopes of preying on the generosity of an F-Chatter. Interesting how things have "taken a turn for the better" for him (free beachhouse) but worse for his friend "James" who now can't go. Maybe the F-chatter should reconsider his/her generosity as if one cannot trust the story can you really trust handing over the keys to your beachhouse?
