430 manual

I think the maintenance is a little more reasonable on the manual 430, or at least from doing the research I did buying mine.

There are lots of posts about little problems with the F1 where it seemed the symptoms caused by things like fluid leaks, pumps and actuator issues that can be warning signs of some repairs that are pretty steep, although, as usual, there are aftermarket options to take some of the sting off. The F1 adds a lot of components to the existing manual transmission, so it's just that much more to be concerned with. That was my thinking, at any rate. But the F1 cars seem to be less expensive now than the 6-speed, so that might mitigate it a bit, especially on a certified car.

 

6 speeds 355 360 430 are all higher asking prices now adays

Supply and demand, right? Sellers will keep raising the prices until people stop buying. Maybe if we all band together we can bring them back in line

 

make a reasonable offer he might not even had any offers alot of these prices are all asking and not being sold at close to what there asking i may be totally wrong but if u really want the car make an offer and let him get bck to you good luck with ur search

The whole "manual" thing is just overblown hype. It's speculation because new car sales are are not slacking without manuals.

There is not this rush of new drivers out there clammering for manuals. In fact, it's a shrinking market.

So, what you've got is people buying them just to buy them while the people who really want one can't get one.

End the madness.

 

I agree. I can understand 5 to (even) 10k premium over an F1 but beyond that it is insane. But...to each his own.

 

Funny how sellers of their manual 430s think their car is worth perhaps double what it was going for a year ago and buyers thinking they're out of their mind. I belong to the former and all I can say is if buyers were in the seller's shoes wouldn't you want to get the maximum amount for your precious 3-pedal car, especially if it has appreciated significantly over the past year? I believe it will be the collectors that will pay the higher prices so unfortunately manual 430s won't be driven much after being sold to them.

 

On the side note. One has a Ferrari V8 in it. The other has a flat 6 that started it's life as a 4cyl in a beetle. That's why one sounds so much better.

 

Supply and demand. But It's only worth what's someones willing to pay. At the end of the day.

I can't think of another cliche at the moment.

 

exactly what others say its what someone will pay,imo i prefer the f1 over 6 spd now in an older ferrari say 360/355 6 spds are the way to go since the f1 didnt get really good till 430 models.

 

A 490 bhp mid-engine Ferrari with manual gearbox AND Manettino, trust me, it is phenomenal and really worths it !

 

prior to me buying my 430 i drove f1 and stick and i went with f1 now on my 360 f1 not too happy on my 355 stick worked great each his own on the 430 eitheir way f1 or stick at end of the day were truly lucky to have one enjoy ur 430

So just curious, on a 6 speed manual what does the Manettino actually adjust when you change it to Race mode? On the F1 it speeds up the shifts, but obviously this won't come into play on the stick shift. Does Race mode change the exhaust note at all?

 

Just got the car since 1 month.
I have to say I mainly drove the car in Sport, to me it is the best compromise.
In Race the suspension firms up but as far as I know, there is no incidence on the exhaust note, maybe the valves open at lower rpm.
If any other 6-speed F430 owner can confirm, that would be great.

In "race" the suspension firms up quite a lot. It is especially noticeable under hard braking. More stable and less nose dive. In addition the electronic nannies aren't so active. Race mode will allow you to get the rear end way out before intervening for instance. You have to make a pretty big mistake before it cuts power.

What about the exhaust valve, do they open at lower rpm than in Sport ?

 

I can't say I notice any difference in exhaust note. The suspension is noticeably stiffer.

 

In race the exhaust opens at a lower rpm, but it needs to be under load you won't notice it if you are just reving the car in the driveway.
