What is the value of this car in the current market? It has about 27,000 miles on it now. I sold it four year ago and now the new owner, a friend of mine, wants to sell it. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/139177550-post473.html
Date of the major service ? If I owned it and was selling it north of $75,000 ..... If I wanted to buy it ... which I do right at $60,000. Just random numbers that seem reasonable at the moment.
here is one for 75k which is reasonable curious to see what it really sells for all with all these high asking prices
You would have many interested at 75 which I feel is too low. But it is not my car to sell... So anyone seriously looking, don't let it disappear at 75... They are getting harder to find and numbers continue to go up. Best. Robb
you can ask what you want...but what you will get is a different story. When I hinted that I was going to sell my 1999 gts f1 with sport seats in march for 67k I got a few emails asking if I would take 60k usd.So I sold it in Canada in one day for 82500.00 cdn which worked out to 67k usd and my car was nice.I didn't see everyone on Fchat saying it was to low or wanting to buy it.You can say that there worth 100k usd all you want but how many have sold over 80k usd.
It was a US car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
You know how it is- the ebay market is always 20-30% LOWER than the true Ferrari market- Back when everyone was saying 355's were worth $50K max there were great examples quietly selling for $75K. Now with values just beginning to go north fast, you see ebay cars selling for $60 and the really clean cars with fresh majors quietly selling right around 90-100K in private sales. Putting a car up on Fchat is easy- but not the way to maximize value. All of us here are too savvy. Seems that if you tell your local independent shop that you're looking for a buyer- they'll have a list of names. This works if your guy thinks your car is a good one, of course!
At $67k, that car is CHEAP. Perhaps if you waited longer. I didnt see any ebay ads, ferrarichat ads. Exposure helps.
HUH? So why don't everyone buy all the Ferrari's on ebay and sell them on the true ferrari market for 20% to 30% more?
I don't think anyone is bashing anyone for selling or buying at any particular number. We're not OPEC. And we try to be supportive for both buyers and sellers. Value threads are always a train-wreck because there is no 'one correct answer.' But when people ask for advice here on value, they will get all types depending on who you ask. It's up to the OP's in their threads to filter the info based on who they relate to with similar interests or someone's track record. Just have a look around on who has bought a car or two or three and who will always be outside looking in... You have to **** or get off the pot in a fast moving market of limited cars. I know of 2 sales just this week, to F-chat members for cars in the very high 80's. Gorgeous cars. Let's be honest, most owners don't want you to know if they bought low or if they bought high. That's fine because they don't want to give up any advantage if they decide to sell in the future - so a buyer would know what their past cushion was. I'd say if you find a wonderful car in the 70's or 60's or lower - buy it, and enjoy it. More power to you. Congratulations on the find. If you sell a car in the same range. More power to you too. Congratulations. All the members here can do is report what we see in the market. It's a small world out there for the number of cars and owners. Many of us are very good friends on the site and we PM or email as much as we post. We know when cars move and what they go for. We offer advice on buying, selling, and who to go to for more good info. There is a lot of brain power on Ferrarichat. I enjoy learning something new each day. You would be amazed at the great knowledge shared in the owners forum and in Rossa. No one is out to point someone in the wrong direction. Stay supportive out there! Robb
Phil, Many are finding good cars on eBay and keeping them because they like them - not flipping them for a profit. And Many dealers, (or even members on F-chat) ARE ALSO buying cars they find there, making some small, or large repairs) and selling later at a small or big profit. So you see. That is the real deal. Think of eBay as the minor leagues where the dealers find prospects to bring up to the major leagues. Other sources out there as well. Think "Fast and Loud" in the Ferrari world. Happens daily. Hope that makes sense. Best. Robb
I know of a red/tan, gated , 99B with 24K miles with a one year old service that sold for 72K last month privately. No issue, no story car.
Because the TRUE Ferrari market is for the really good cars with no paint flaws and no leaks and no leather issues and a complete service history and strong compresion numbers- and most, not all mind you, but most ebay cars are drivers- lots and lots of minor issues. But- if you put your car on ebay with no reserve it most likely will be bought by a dealer who will flip it. And the dealers who put cars on ebay with no reserve only do so after the car has been through 3 or 4 buyers PPI's that revealed too many issues to get market value.
That's funny. Mine as well say the true Ferrari market is only for V12 cars. Or the true Ferrari market id for GTOs. Or cars with race history. Or... some other exclusive list of artificial qualifications designed to limit the "market" to only those cars which meet it.
congrats on the sale and thank you for sharing and confirming a true selling price. looks like a beautiful car
Wow Rob If two were sold last week in the high 80's to Fchat members i guess the 355's are not as rare as we thought to find. I think their are a few people on Fchat that do a great job at pumping up the 355$$$ But i live in the real world and i love the 355 .
Here's the story on this car. I bought it brand new from F of SF in Jan. 99. I have maintained it to the highest Fchat standards sparing nothing. I did the major myself, (I owned an auto repair shop so I had all the necessary equipment) and replaced everything possible over a two month period. In 2011 I bought a 550, kept both cars for eight months trying to decide which one to keep forever. The 550 won out so I sold the 355 to a friend. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/140752486-post1.html When he told me he wanted to sell it I said I'd buy it without thinking that my wife's car would have to live in the driveway. Now I realize she really needs her garrage space so I can't buy it back although I really would like to. I know the car and its perfect plus it has a lot of sentimental value to me. After telling him I would buy it then backing out I now feel obligated to help him sell it. Neither one of us want to deal with the car buying public so I asked here and it seems that 75K sounds reasonable. Soon we will post an ad in the for sale section and if nothing happens it will probably go to Fantasy Junction on consignment.
