I'm not feeling it. I don't get the deep groves in the hood and the twin "mouths" on the 3/4 panels look really over done. The lower front wing doesn't seem to fit to the side panels at all. The interior is very nice though. It looks to me that you can't see the engine anymore, which is a real pity.
Totally agree: the engine bay looks very - easy serviceable BMW like - all plastic shrouds. And the rear view - the Alfa 4C looks better - this cars not on my shopping list. I'll be keeping my current car and make a bee line for the Lamborghini dealership for my modern adrenalin hit.
Good, specific criticism of the design IMHO. The hood is a bit loud, but presumably functional. I don't like the way they tied the lip in at the sides of the bumper either. It's busy and angular, and yet the lip is so clean and simple. Seems like they could have hid that split perhaps inside the plumbing of the side inlet to clean that up as well. I still like it overall though and look forward to seeing it in person. One could likely paint/wrap the lip and the divider in the quarter panels to perhaps clean up the lines from a distance.
I love the hood on the 488GTB. They did a great job on that. I think it is better than the far too tame hood on the 458. I also like the hood way better on the 488 then the hideous hood on the LaFerrari. Wish they would have done the 488 hood on the LaF. So much more classier, elegant and just the right amount of flare in the lines. It's exactly what the 458 needed to bring it up just another notch in styling IMHO
That's what I've always loved about Porsche RS cars. Raw un-coloured induction noise, combined with natural exhaust tone. No pitch alterations, no artificial flim flam, just raw sound. That's the sound of high performance.
They should have done that and went hybrid instead. You'll still be below the 4.0 liter mark, you'll still have NA, you'll still be efficient, you might be able to keep the weight down if you go for a light battery pack. And if you're still worried about being beaten, just improve your handling like porsche.
That new 911 gt3 rs does have loud noise (but not very pleasant sounding). Too boy racer for anything but track days unfortunately. But cool car nonetheless.
yes, engine would be more compact and still have nice sound and perfect throttle response, but weight reduction would be not so easy, maybe carbon tube would help ....
Big problem is that Ferrari don't have NA V8 anymore, so NA V6 at least would be still better than turbo.
Not to mention that when you open the cover to look at the engine it looks like you've opened the back of your washing machine to de-clog the water filter.
