Sorry, but a bit much. Personally, a manual clutch would be best for these cars at slower speeds but they are long gone. While the F12 has a more refined shift than the 599, you may want to see how it stacks up against recent paddle shift V12s from a sheer performance standpoint. Just push the pedal on the right down and experience the brutality.

Taking this into consideration and further even the comments thereto, then either the US market is completely different from the EU market or ......

people looking now may have just missed the bottom line. I bought mine (09) last April for 90,000 €, which corresponds to 100,440 US$. The dealer price tag was 92,000 €. Last year this price was really OK, but not exceptionally cheap (I did not look at other cars with a similar or somewhat lower price tag, since this car was in excellent order and I found absolutely nothing to grumble). I do, however, not see comparable cars now for such a price in Europe.

 

It seems as though you did not read all the comments before hand.. Yes UK prices along with UAE prices are a fraction of what they are here in the good ole' USofA

But is not the tendency the actual question? Is this also reverse in the USA, compared to the EU, where I believe to clearly observe a rising tendency, and no depreciation, not to speak of even "quickly"?

 

The 550 did not reach bottom until they were approx. 15 years old. Same holds true for the 328 when it reached 26 years of age. With that taken into consideration - makes it difficult to truly think we are able to predict when and where the bottom will be for these vehicles only 8 years in..

 

I don't think anything is set in stone with prices. They go and down across the board . Logic says the newer model should command more than previous models .

Expecting to buy 599 for 575 I think is unreasonable or 575 for 550 price. There's always excepts to rules.

One rule that has been constant, with ferrari you pay upfront to get good sorted car or on the backend to bring it up

 

There were close to if not double 599's made in comparison to 575. It is possible for top shelf examples to be the same price or higher..

Even though the 575 is F1 equipped - the technology lacks in comparison to the 599 and many buyers looking long term will chose less technology every time. I most likely will regret the choice if I ever encounter an electrical problem in the 599 and it cost bukoo bucks to solve.

But I think you're comparing apples to oranges still.

 

I agree lesser 599 will equal pristine 575. Most people seem to want newer technology .

The lesser model you should seek is higher mile car when trying to buy in for less . You won't drive it much so high drive should not be concern.

I have to generally disagree somewhat with this summary. I have owned all of these cars (multiple times) and will point out the following:

1. There are less 599's built than 550 & 575's. The 599's had a far greater list price and sold for far over list until the financial crisis hit which greatly effected the later part of production of the 599. Note 2002 575's were soft in my opinion/and others--I went for 2001 550 based on that. The 550 is a very simple comp to the 575--they are very similar--more so than not. The 575 was a small improvement--and I mean real small on the 550. It introduced the F1 along with some more electronics, change in the grill, lights, interior changes, and displacement. To the common person they cannot tell nor would you change your tune driving a 6 speed 550 or 575. Again, I have owned both and still own a 550 and 599. In fact, I would choose the 550 with less electronics and 6 speed.

The 599 is vastly different in every way to a 550/575. No where would I say a 575 can be more than a 599. The 599 is so far beyond a 575 in all aspects.

There are not 50+ 599's on the market--most of the ad's are for cars that have already been sold. I know this from calling several of them during my purchase process. One note here is that you do also see very few 550's and 575's for sale.--they are sweet.. I know this from going through the buy process recently. Unfortunately, many dealers leave the ads up just to attract attention or generate a call.

Your "gated" comment about driving a premium in the market makes sense if only a few were made..Certainly not the case on the 550 which is why you may just buy a 550 vs 575. But a gated 599 will be worth more than a 575 as less were made.

Anyhow-some rambling food for thought.

Only referring to PRICE comparing 575 and 599. There are two or three 575 with asking prices higher than some 599 at the moment.

Obviously, you have more insight into the 50+ for sale comments. Makes a lot of sense as 90% of all 599's for sale are offered by dealers. But it is fair to state that there are many more offered than 550 or 575 at the moment. Cars.com alone has 49 examples listed. But, again - I can pick up what you're throwing down regarding them leaving up ads.

I still think 575 can fetch more than 599; maybe not on the regular, but it is highly likely. Just sold my 550. Interested in your thoughts on the two since you own both simultaneously?

Once you attain 599 ..you will have you sight on f12. I can't knock because I did the same thing in a similar fashion. I won't listen to reason .

If you are patient you find one at your price. I was offered one at your price .I don't like 599 so I told my brother and because the guy was in a pinch he tried to squeeze me for more and lost out. Point...when you find good car reasonable priced don't let it pass. you won't have it long so if you lose any money . Think of it as the rental fee for having your next Ferrari

I may want an f12, but it will be at least 2025 before one would be with in reach (price-wise). Meaning the 599 would be a keeper considering my latest trend(s). I had great cars, but the only reason I sold them is because I got into them for much less than mkt value. If that happens this go round, there would be nothing to move to. Therefore, the next one will be a keeper!

I never buy thinking it will be a keeper. Exception, 550 will be a keeper. I'm close to a deal on the 360.

Well after closely watching the 599 market for the past 4-5 months, I just bought one of the cars that was available. It took me a while to decide exactly what I wanted, once I did, I had done enough research on prices, miles driven, condition, option/color, & model year. I ended up buying a car that I feel is worth the price paid, because of those factors listed above.

It has actually been a lot of fun learning about these cars, now I am excited to get the car and start to enjoy it from a different perspective.

Who knows where the market will be in a couple years, I didn't really consider future depreciation, I am expecting it will happen, but I will get the enjoyment of driving it. The car had a sticker of $380K in 2009, so whatever future depreciation curve hits it, it is not as severe as what has already occurred.

You are misinformed this isn't salvaged. Secondly I don't buy with intentions to make a profit. Third someone made me an offer.
You are allowed to have keeper.. 599 isn't it which you stated. 599 is a rental until f12 is in your price range or something else catch your eye.
I buy and sell salvage vehicles all the time. Sometimes profit sometimes even. By me going to insurance auction all the time I come by deals

My keepers are cars I want for my collection which is 5 cars other than those everything is for sell .
