If this car sells for $350k 'ish' in Monterey in August...then the Hagerty chart that follows closely after, shows a trajectory again - like a rocketship straight up. $243k to $350k 'ish' next.

I believe this is David Mohlman's car. From what I have been told, it is a 10k mile all original paint, top example car. Cool color combo.

9309800531 is definitely a beautiful unmolested survivor. Was offered by Classic AutoSmith a year ago for $199,500 and if I remember correctly, sold fairly quickly.

It sold on Ebay about a year ago. Its been on Mohlmans website for some time. It will definitely be interesting to see where this goes. It should be an exciting auction week with the Steve Mcqueen '76 at Mecum, this at Gooding and we will see what RM has soon.

I'm a taken my 930s to one of those auction, some day. Forget the flippers and just pay the known auction fee. Oh, is not the McQueen 930 a 1977 ? Current price trends should be informative with all the 930s being offered at those CA auctions in July. Hagerty will be busy trying to set a balance for the August price guide with the sale results. After all a few rarer and / or lower miles 930s have already exceeded the Gooding estimate.

It should be a hot week for 930 turbos out there. Between the auctions and shows. I just picked up another '79 in the Sacramento area. I now have four '79 930's. I will be bringing it to Monterey. If prices go crazy maybe I will sell it out there:)

Funny, the snorkel washers are intact. The seller could probably do a lot better parting whatever is left. I just don't understand how you can treat any car, let alone a 930, like this.

How on earth does this happen? First, how does an owner lose interest in a 930 and let is rot as opposed to sell?

How is a galvanized era car rot like this?

All you are getting is a couple of VIN plates- the rest of the car looks like complete garbage- folks do rebuild 356 in this condition but I'll never under why. Looks to me like car was stored in a salt water pond.

Finally jumping into this forum. I asked the same question over on the bird. It just boggles the mind that a car like a 930 could intentionally be left to rot like that.

The correct Tire/Air Compressor for a US 1979 930 should have the part number ZVW113103 foil sticker on the outer center cylinder and the Webster Electro Air Compressor foil sticker on the lower left of the plastic case. The cardboard box identifies it as an Autobahn Electric Air Compressor ZVW113103 but it was manufactured by Webster in Canada.

It is fascinating to read all this detailed info about our 930ies but, I think, the main and sadly neglected here attraction of these cars is the way how they drive. Especially so after being purposefully modified (getting rid of horrible emission control appendages, useless air-con, updated turbo, intercooler, wastegate etc) when the car opens up and becomes something to be cherished and admired with no end in sight.

I am sure Dr. Ing. h.c. Ferdinand Porsche, in his resting place, smiles every time his cars are enthusiastically driven and becomes sad when he sees all the other 930s mercilessly caged in some heated garage and almost never set free even on short parole.

Lets see the show of hands - everybody who drives at least 5,000 miles a year consistently, please.

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm sure Dr Porsche would have wanted built them with as much performance without all that extra baggage if possible. Yes I drive a 930 over 5K miles a year, mostly with my favorites with nice performance mods. So much better that way. If the original only crowd only knew the better way it could/ should have been available. A 930 with some 934 performance mods for street. What a car. One of my favorites in photos.

Totally agree. When I bought my 930, it had an Andial Intercooler, K-27 turbo, 3.4 pistons, sc cams, B&B headers, and no smog. Man, what a car! The thing pulled like a freight train.
Unfortunately, I live in California, and the smog police would frown on those mods, so I went back to completely dead stock. Was able to register the car, but not as much fun.

A good reason, if possible to live elsewhere. All kidding aside I enjoy my stock ones also however all the bashing of other than bone stock leaves me bewildered. When well done by those who know how to do it right, are a true pleasure to drive.
