well.. sure the idea is stupid, but the market has spoken. Some people are willing to pay for it a Picasso is a canvas with some paint applied. Some people are willing to pay for it. Michaelangelo David is a piece of rock some guy chiseled with a hammer. Some people will pay big bucks for it. Cindy Crawford is a person with a nose, two eyes, and a mouth like all the other girls out there. Some people are willing to pay big bucks for her looks. as long as there's a seller and a buyer, who's to say if a "cosmetic" (ie thing of beauty) is smart or stupid.
I think that the stripe is one of the many reasons that make the Stradale so iconic, to me the ones without it look like they are missing something. I like it so much I put it on my coupe.
An OEM stripe under the cars external laquer definitely has massive value, especially today, if your CS or SCUD doesn't have one simply accept its worth 10K less
Thanks for sharing that. I believe the fchatter who organized the event was in video production and made that video. I may be mistaken though. I appear a couple of times in it, wearing a red shirt with the stradale stripe and tan shorts. My GF is there in a black shirt. I was going to drive to Malibu from Phoenix for a family gathering and this event happened to be at the same time so we drove the Ferrari.
update on 140142 I was told that the owner is currently in prison. and the steward of the car has legal papers to sell as a proxy
i guess not, I talked to Michael Hope of Hong kong ferrari and a few other poeple on the forum maybe know him better than I do Michael told me that the owner of the car has another ferrari , which is an enzo I don't think a thief would steal a car and track it for 9000 km (this info is from Michael too) so here's the question, assuming the car is all in good condition except the dirtiness, how much this 9000km CS would fetch ?
they just shot a video with the car standing still and revving made me cringe! They obviously didn't care too much about cold engine revving. that must be 4000rpm+ the good thing is, its 30 Celcius outside.
Well to be fair.. u r both right.. Stripe (by itself is a sticker) then protected by clear coat paint or am I wrong?
The point is that it has value - it is much cheaper to buy a sticker and put it on top of the paint then it is to have the sticker done properly by the factory or an aftermarket shop under the paint. In addition, there is something to be said for the uniform reflection achieved with the sticker under the paint vs on top of it - which will break the reflection lines.
