Absolutely. So would you not prefer that a seller or dealer leave the car as they got it so you could see the evidence? A dealer who would detail such a car is, in a way, misrepresenting it. You can make a piece of garbage look pristine with a little spit and polish. No?

John, for once I'm in total agreement with you. A detail just hides how the car's been kept. I don't buy cars with goop all over them. I wanna see where it's leaking..or not. I wanna see how it's gonna look after I've driven it for a while and washed the goop off. I wanna see if the previous owner was a waxer, a mechanic, or a derelict. and not just shiny stuff sprayed on the car.

These Exotic Motors guys are really trying to boost the values of our cars. I'll give them that.

    No joke.

I need to head out there and check their inventory some time just for the heck of it.

Perhaps....but if one will not put even a small investment in cleaning up a car to sell it, I dread to think what things have been deferred by the owner. So I suppose you can put this as a good sign to "run", as fast as you can. Or, on the flip side, this could just be a lazy seller....plenty of those too.

I disagree that you can hide a "piece of garbage" behind some "spit and polish", as you can detect recent paint and polish work with a little digging and effort. But all in all, a dirty, and neglected looking car, generally shows an owner that takes little pride in their possessions, and I would be very wary of what attitude they took toward they way the drove the car, and maintained it.

When I sold my car, I washed it and dropped it off at a local exotic car dealership. About all they did to it was clean the carpets and give it another wash. My car needed no "spit and polish"...because it had always been kept in excellent, and clean condition.

My car was washed and lightly detailed when I got it. All photographs were honest and showed all "rough" spots of the car.

I bought the car sight unseen and couldn't be happier.

No close up pictures of troubled spots always concerns me.

This car is not selling. Is it the color combo? The price drop is substantial.

I love the exterior color. I would like it better with a beige or Black interior, but I'm not going to kick it out of bed.

I thought the price for the mileage was the only question. I haven't seen the car in person so I have no specifics on condition. The car has been owned by at least 2 separate F-chatters so they can chime in as to any issues.

I like the car and it's unique history / options from the factory for a '95.

You'd really have to get the car out in the sun to know if you like the color or not. Showroom condition/lighting can be deceptive. Especially a color like this.

Not sure. I personally love the color combo and before buying my car tried to track this one down. (I did but it was not for sale at the time).

The only thing that I don't like in the photos is the engine compartment looks faded/unkept.

Wouldn't stop me from buying this car if I was still looking, just saying that I get a better feeling about a car overall when the engine compartment is really nice.

I have a red on black very very early 2 owner 20k mile 95 GTB which I will be listing for sale soon.

If anyone is seriously interested before it goes public, feel free to PM me. I will likely be consigning it with my local dealer in the next 2 weeks.

This is the one you should keep :). However, if you do decide to sell, this should be the car that will push prices up.

Don't see that happening any time soon....77GTB just sold on ebay/fchat for $99k. Granted it was a very nice example and mine needs the door rust fixed, but has a new interior and I've taken good car of her.

Was thinking of a straight up trade for the Blu 355.....but I know he won't go for that unless the car sits for a few more months. By then what will my car be worth?

    So I'm curious.
Are the members looking more for GTB's or spiders these days?
From this thread I can see the clear interest in 6 speeds, and certainly miss the feel. I raise the question because a '99 blk/tan spider I've cared for the owner for the last 14 years has been on the market for 4 months. I've honestly been surprised by the lack of interest in the car, and only two serious inquires, that were both extremely low. I would be curious what the membership here thinks the value of a '99 spider 7100k mileage car, with major completed in the last 100 miles, new battery, tires, SD-2 indicates 53% of clutch remaining.
    I'm open to all opinions.

The red / blue seats challenge car in CA sold on eBay (even though the listing hasn't been cancelled yet) for $130k.
