ANDIAL advertisement featuring a Turbo Carrera being serviced. This ad was from ANDIAL’s Santa Ana, California address after they moved from Costa Mesa.

ANDIAL is an anagram of the names of the three partners, the late Arnold (AN) Wagner, Dieter (DI) Inzenhofer and Alwin (AL) Springer. The three left Vasek Polak and founded their company on March 10, 1975 to form their own high performance Porsche tuning shop. The name was also synonymous with success in North American sports car racing. When the last active owner Dieter Inzenhofer retired in 2013, he made sure the legendary ANDIAL name stayed in the Porsche family when Porsche Motorsports North America, Inc. (PMNA) announced it had purchased the brand for future use.

Early Andial twin plug 77 Turbo Carrera. The Porsche emblems were removed when I got it. I recently put the Porsche emblems back on now that Porsche bought the Andial Brand.

i have a 76 and will be getting ready to start a restoration, can someone tell me the correct color orientation of the 'turbo carrera' script on the rear. just on this page alone i see one photo(hyenahf post) where the 'turbo' is black and 'carrera' is silver then one example(idart post) that is reversed then redwinelovers car all black. Is it owner's choice? I really want to know how it came from factory. I assume the black is anodized like around the door frames?

There may have been different manufactures for the badges - Turbo (U.S. different script and smaller) and Carrera that may cause the anodizing to fade differently over time. I’ve enlarged a 35mm slide scan of the 1976 Turbo Carrera on the showroom floor at Atlas Porsche + Audi and the black anodizing appears to be the same for the two badges when they were new.

The 3-liter Turbos came standard with black anodizing unless chrome was ordered as an option.

Steve McQueen's Porsche 930 To Cross The Block

It’s no secret that Steve McQueen loved his automobiles. The late actor is known to have owned some of the coolest cars around. A Ferrari 275GTB, Jaguar XKSS, even a Hudson Wasp graced McQueen’s driveway at one time or another. Now, one of the very last cars he ever owned will sell at Mecum Auctions this summer.Steve McQueen’s special order 1976 Porsche 930 Turbo will no doubt be a highlight of the 2015 Monterey Car Week. The Porsche was ordered personally by McQueen in a very rare slate grey. He specifically wanted the stealth color for late night canyon runs. McQueen even went as far as to have a toggle switched mounted on the dashboard to cut the power to his rear lights. This way the police would have trouble reading his license plate. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to benefit The Boys Republic, a non-profit treatment community for troubled youngsters in Chino Hills, California. McQueen credited The Boys Republic for turning his life around.

I've only seen a handful that had chrome trim from the factory (specified as an option on the COA). There's no option sticker on the 1970s Turbos.

Early Porsche + Audi sales training bulletin featuring the new 1976 models including the Turbo Carrera. It’s interesting that at this early Sep ‘75 date, the U.S. Turbo Carreras were expected to be fitted with Blaupunkt Frankfurt radios. The Frankfurt was similar to the standard radio for European 3-liter Turbos, the Köln (without cassette). When the first U.S. Turbo Carreras arrived in 1976, it changed from the Frankfurt to the Bamberg that also had a cassette player and microphone.

It's been a while since a saw any nice 3.0 litre cars for sale, nothing at Canepa or Bill Noon for instance. So does anyone know of any for sale? They must be nice original or restored, not rust buckets! I am looking on behalf of a client with a healthy but sensible budget. Thanks.

Good point...it may have 8x16s on the fronts.

It has 16 inch 255 tires on the rear so it’s likely they are 9x16’s for that wide of a tire. If it has 8x16s in the front, the factory spacers would have to be removed with shorter wheel lug studs installed as I don’t see open lug nuts installed on the fronts.

Not nitpicking the car but just trying to understand the wheel fitment and likelihood of when this type of Fuchs wheel would have been installed. The 9x16s Fuchs were used on 1986-1989 930s with 7x16s on the fronts.

I wonder if the McQueen car goes stratospheric, will it throw the hagertys values. Taking into account the low number of sales at the moment?

Personally I doubt the $1M claims.

I'm a buyer at 70K so they have that going for them :D

Seriously the iconic Porsche, to me, of ALL time is the 930. Even more so than the 917.

Even at 100K they are a "bargain"

It is a scam. The dealer's registration for the mobile.de online marketplace was signed on the day he placed the ad, and the pics are from another 1977 930 that was recently offered. Romania - 'nuff said.

It's not all fakes on Mobile though. Last week a friend of mine bought this 1977 930 Turbo in Finland. No airco, no sunroof, matching numbers car (ROW nr 158). Here we are on the ferry from Helsinki to Travemunde, a 30 hour trip on a boat that was supposed to be filled with drunk partying Finnish women. The information was partly correct, except for the fact that info from the locals taught us that these women were on the boat to Stockholm... The car is ok though, although it needs some tlc.
