How many 458s got sold after Speciale was announced? Will be the same here. The Speciale was designed to pick up sales when they have dropped off after 3 years or so. Cali Special is unlikely because enthusiasts don't like the car. But that doesn't mean anything. Marcchione has said Ferrari needs to do more specials - the bean counters are running things now now the product guys.
Incidentally, does anyone know how successful the F12 has been for Ferrari as a model? Given how few I see around London compared to 599 I do wonder. (Apologies - I know this isn't the correct thread for this)
I hope they limit special versions. Lambo does it and it feels cheap. I hope this be last na v12 fr ferrari. Otherwise it is asking too much for just another variation.
They've been saying that V12 will be na for a while still. Was mentioned everywhere in the V8 turbo press statements. It's very low volume so they can still get away with it. Will probably be hybridised before turbocharged.
The Speciale was only marginally more expensive than an equally specced 458. This car could be another $200k, hence the ability to keep on selling the standard car at a totally different price point.
If you can't show me a current lineup F12XX at least show me an F12 "experimental" track only car in which the next GTO will be based. Nobody ever said it would be 30 years prior to another GTO. Rather a significant interval must occur before the next GTO is produced. What is significant ? IMHO 20 years is significant, but I'm not making the decision. Is 10 years enough ? Perhaps but seems unlikely. I'd also argue, as I have said previously, that Ferrari may shock and awe the public by doing a hybrid TT V8 or even a hybrid V12 GTO model. Who really knows except to say that whatever it is must be the absolute peak in performance for Ferrari. People forget that the 599 GTO was THE fastest street legal car EVER for the factory when it was released. The label of being "fastest" never lasts long and it certainly didn't for the 599 GTO. That being said, its a wonderful outstanding road car that every automobile aficionado should drive at least once. I'm talking bucket list material. We are all just caretakers of these cars. Unless the car is wrecked none of us will own our cars past our life expectancy. Enjoy our GTO's as the could be the last of a dying breed. I doubt I will keep mine forever, but I will never ever regret for one second having owned her.
That is what I said on another similar thread back at the beginning of May: Another 599 GTO for sale " think this rumour started from the fact that the new F12 is loosely being referred to at the factory as 'GTO' implying a stripped down version, the official name has yet to be finalised and it will not be GTO. I think there is a much greater chance of it being called the F12 Speciale than F12 GTO....."
Chatted with my dealer yesterday and he confirmed that it will be a very special car indeed with new technology. Owning 3 Ferrari's (bought new - not in the second hand market) is a minimum to get on the list. Demand for the car is high. He could not confirm how many units will be produced. Interesting ...
Phew-just made it on the 3 recent new car rule. Amazing how one grovels as a client paying good money?
No kidding as my dealer said: Ferrari sees it as a gift to us that we are allowed to buy these cars as they realize they go up in value and many cash in and make money on these cars. So to return the favor you need to buy their "mainstream" product Do they have it figured out or what!!
There will be less demand for the regular F12 because of these factors 1)On the market 3 years Not so hot anymore 2)488GTB is the newest hot thing 3)A lot of potential buyers will be trying to line up a GTO
Yes there will be but that won't worry them as they only have to sell half the standard cars as that plus the approx 800 VS will keep their V12 lines humming until the M in 2017. Also it is quite a price gap and a 488 is a different sort of buyer from an F12. Speaking from my own experience coming from a 458 Spider to an F12, I wasn't even interested in going back to a 458 Speciale Aperta (aside from the financial aspect). 'Lining up' a GTO will probably start with taking the F12 Speciale if you can get one and not an easy route even from there. Trust me, I have been working my way up this particular greasey pole for a long long time.
Ferrari press has been quoted several times stating there will be no turbos in the V12. However rumors that seemed based on credible reports are that the V12 will soon go hybrid. My guess is the F12 successor.
Makes most sense, will create even more of a product differentiation between the two lines and this way Ferrari gets to maintain the NA sound and offer the turbo power...
Pretty much exactly what it says. You don't just walk in and buy a new limited edition car off the showroom floor at retail.
Yes, what does this mean? Are you suggesting there will be gto f12 later after this 'speciale' f12???
Yes, there is no way the new bean counters will not take advantage of that moniker with the run out model, but not for a while yet. And there hopefully an Aperta as well. Maybe ask F2003 whose post I was responding to and he used the phrase 'lining up a GTO' so maybe he knows more?
