Gang, Proud to announce that my formerly beleaguered 355 Spider passed its CA smog test on the first bounce. Those of you who've been following the 2+ year long saga of chasing down dozens of CELs like an expensive game of wack-a-mole know how pivotal this moment is for the vehicle and for me. I'll post pictures of my (now legal) California plates when the fine folks at the DMV see fit to get them to me. Yes, I've been driving around for 2+ years with no plates, only a dealer placard. You don't want to know the bullets I've dodged. Don't judge. [Side note for all you scofflaws, when you don't have plates or when your tabs are expired, pluck a dealer placard and put in the license frame. For some reasons, cops won't stop you as much if they think you just bought the car. ] Anyhoo, big shout out goes to my pal Yelcab for working with me over back to back weekends and a few nights after work doing our extensive engine out service. With new belts, hoses, fluids, thermostat, 02 sensors, spacers, and a bunch of things too numerous to mention, my 355 Spider is finally running like the vehicle she was always meant to -- it just took steady, competent hands, the good people of Fchat, a willing and open checkbook, and 2+ years to get here. If anyone needs me I'll be at the bar. ketel
well, the first thing you do is to remove that 355 ass and put back the 348 rear. That 358 Frankenstein is going through the entire library of CEL before it gives in.
Noooo, not the 358!!!!! That's got a 348 motor, therefore always trouble-free. I'm talking about a 355 I'm workin' on. And Ketel's had....and beaten.... every known code, hasn't he????
Congrats! Persistence pays off, and yelcab gets HUGE Stooge props! Well done Mitch, very well done. Enjoy your car now ketel.
I like happy endings to long stories, this is great to hear. PS Yelcab, I think you meant James Brown, not Little Richard.
YES!!!! So happy to hear this Ketel!! After 3 long years of having a non-running F355 myself I totally understand your elation. Would love to see your car sometime, lmk if you want to go for a run. Lunch is on me! Great job Mitch and Ketel. Congrats!!
Where is the July Stoogefest? I floated the idea of a Stoogecross at the Camarillo airport in July with some interest. Shall we try and make that happen? If so lets start another thread on that and nail it down.
