The company responsible for coating the backside of the carpet didn't manage to produce a sample with the automotive coating we requested, so we were looking for another service provider in the last weeks but either their production line is too big to handle the small amount of carpet or width, or they can't produce the coating quality we need. We found a supplier last week, bought the required coating material on our own and are in the process of sending everything over for the finishing. Phew…

Well, thank you so much for all the good work.
Really it is fantastic that you were able to engage in such a project; I certainly wouldn't have been able to get that far, I would have stopped earlier...
    Again thank you!

    Stay positive.

Do you recall who requested a set? And all the color combinations?

Many thanks for taking on this project!

Yes, but i probably won't be able to make everyone happy unfortunately. The carpet producer skipped on producing the last 11 meters as one of the weaving components was running out and he deemed it to complicated to set up the machines for processing the remaining yarn. Not happy with this. I learned a lot in the process of reproducing a custom Ferrari carpet but am not sure i applied for gaining that knowledge...

Latest update, the shipping company did not deliver the carpet rolls to the coating company as the weight was slightly over the maximum transport weight, we are already negotiating a second delivery.

Same here, i am doing this for fun… well that was the original idea at least ;-)

You are doing a fantastic job Adrian. Much respect. If you have a shortfall in production and have more demand than supply (that seems amazing looking back to when you were trying to find committed buyers) I hope you will put existing owners on here at the front of the queue rather than the likes of Superformance (who I think you mentioned as a possible bulk buyer).

Anyway what a fantastic voyage and well done you.

    Francis

Sure! I guess that about two thirds of the production volume will go to FC members and one third to friends who also have a GT4 (and one set to myself). I might do another, larger production run as soon as i have recovered from doing this batch...

If I am not too late I would like a set of the blue/black carpet for my GT4 which will be repainted and retrimmed later this year.

    Thanks

Adrian, I finally got around to pulling the stack of carpet pieces out of the closet to see what I have. It appears I have a full set of blue/black carpet pieces for the trunk only and no floor mats. I was pretty sure the previous owner of the car told me that the floor mats were the same material as the trunk carpet as he said he had replaced them with regular black mats with Cavallino logos since he was not fond of the material but if that was indeed true I do not have them now.

Anyway, I have traced the outline of each piece onto heavy paper. I am not sure if the intent here is to supply people with a roll of carpet or pre-cut peices with the vinyl trim ready to install in the car. If it is the latter and you need the templates for a US car just drop me a PM with your mailing address and I will send them to you. Cheers, John

John, thanks for the kind offer! What i'm interested in right now is how much carpet is required for manufacturing a US carpet set. If you arrange the templates on a carpet roll with a width of 140 cm/55", what length would you need for all carpet pieces? My guess would be around 300 cm/118".

    Thanks,
    Adrian

P.s. the coating company sent a coated sample for signing off the production, but since our state postal provider decided to go on a strike we haven't received anything yet. They will sent another sample via courier, I am not making this up...

Maybe these events make us appreciate when things go smoothly more:)

These events aren't unusual, I'd say they're more of what's to be expected. Thanks for taking charge of this.

Received the finished and coated carpet rolls, we then did a first test set based on our templates. Our european set requires 2,70 m x 1,40 m of carpet = 3,78 square meter with our template arrangement. We'll do the vinyl lining next to see how it works out and looks like.

Template arrangement (marked on the back of the carpet) to maximize the output. We need to keep the direction of the weaving on the irregular template shapes, so these need a specific rotation as shown below.

If you have any un-allocated carpet sets, I'd be very interested in one as I've just bought a 308 gt4 (my first Ferrari) that has black carpets in the boot. The car is red with crema leather interior.

    Regards,
    Paul
