No, there is unique new tech on the VS, never featured on any Ferrari before.

FWIW, the 'easiest' (but nonetheless expensive) way to get yourself in a position to purchase a new special model from Ferrari is through active participation in Corse Clienti. Know of several cases w/LaF where prospective and persistent buyers have originally been turned down, but then later been given the opportunity for an allocation if they signed on to do F1 Clienti.

However, Ferrari also forgets quickly. If you for instance bought a XX and haven't been around for a while - you're back to square one. It wasn't hard work at all to get your hands on a 599XX, and in return you received a golden ticket for a LaF. Pretty good deal.

I can confirm this now too. With this new tech I was told about it would seem the Aventador SV is the target for this car.

Exactly, which makes me wonder whether Speciale becomes a sub brand like SV. It would be a pity as the cars have always had their individual identity so I hope Ferrari digs into their history bag to come up with a worthy name.

I've always been a proponent for the use of the Imola name on a track-focused car. "F12 Imola" has a nice sound to it, IMO.

No. As I understand it all 'Speciale' like projects have a working title within the factory pre launch. I understand that the 458 Speciale Aperta was referred to as V8 LE (Limited Edition) within the factory and was only rebranded on launch. I very much hope and assume that if the working title of this car is VS and I believe even before that it was actually using GTO, that it will also be rebranded just prior to launch, and as Mister Maranello suggests, Ferrari name it the F12 Imola or F12 Monza or something along those lines.

thanks for the response .I know my F12 is the fastest car I have ever owned and to me has the correct sound for a 12 cylinder ferrari .. so this new car promises to be exciting .. it seems that it will be difficult to get much more torques to the ground without some type of 4 wheel drive ( think Porsches and Lambos..)
that would speed this car up..in the below 100 mph acceleration times..
    hmm I wonder...

You would have thought that but with the LaF Ferrari managed to go faster without 4 wheel drive

Current working name for the upcoming F12 is F152 Versione Speciale (VS). I have heard a possible production name, but I do not believe anything has been finalized yet. Hopefully they trump their last efforts; namely the rather unevocative Speciale A and FXX K...

For reference, the Speciale A had a the working name of F142 VS (For those unaware; the F codes are platform codes for F12 and 458 respectively). The car was branded as V8 LE before they decided upon the Speciale A name. I have product communications from as late as September where the car has yet to receive the Speciale A name (simply referred to as F142 VS). So even with the previews starting this month for the F12 VS, a final decision upon its name is not necessarily imminent. The official unveil is still months away; and as proved with the Speciale A, the naming decision could be taken just weeks or even days before launch.

So f152 vs can not be gto but rather speciale it seems?
With this much rumored price difference, it makes little sense to go with this one if it is not the last limmited edition f12.

Have to agree with this statement - unless this is a limited edition with special features, why would I trade up from my current F12 to a Speciale type version at a substantial price premium, especially if a couple of years later a limited edition GTO type F12 is released?
