I know it was nicely restored by Jeff Stephan.

I also know it featured the same non-original rear lights that 4812 did for so long (below), although this may now have been rectified as I haven't seen it in a while.

The ultimate form of flattery! Or, I just want to be different yet the same.

Having bought and sold a Pantera when I was 19, I thought I had seen those tail lights before.

Tail and side markers lights were passed around faster than a $25 hooker back then.

It would be interesting to know the story behind the company that offered those lights. Given the time period (70s) and cultural location (the family) I presume there is more to it than just marketing!

    Frugality.

Small volume manufacturers could ill afford to engage in custom equipment for everything they put into these cars. That also included basic engineering on a lot of things we take for granted on the high volume cars like windows, doors, AC and electrical systems that function in an appliance like fashion. You had to "put up with" a lot more back then when you bought a low volume exotic car. It's somewhat different today except that service and parts prices are still affected. Today's cars are of a much higher manufacturing quality.

Agreed, but it still plays out a bit today. My Tesla Model S had a few switches which were the same as a new Mercedes Benz.

Sorry Roy, far from the Holy Grail. I can appreciate the originality but that front bumper is terrible :( Holy Grail would be a QVDD :)

The Holy Grail of Countaches to the person who has one is the one in their garage.

The Holy Grail of Countaches to the person wants one is any one.

They're all special to someone, and I'm just happy to have one :)
