I'm waiting for my special aperta to be built and if I could get the F12 VS then that would be perfect. Chances are small though as allocations are very tight!!

And I think a good starting point is to be a current V12 owner

Not necessarily-I suggest you wait and see before passing judgement. Some posters here are very well informed with excellent sources.

As a former owner of both, I think your Ferrari dealer should arrange for you to drive them side by side. The F12 is a far easier and safer drive than the GTO. Much faster on track too. The 599 GTO is a terrific car that will hold its value better and provide a thrilling drive, but the game has moved on.
I sold my F12 and kept my Speciale Aperta ... Not even a day passes without me questioning my choice. If one can only own one Ferrari, I think it has to be the F12
I hope Ferrari will give me a F12 VS and I expect to keep it for a long time (alongside the Aperta of course)

599 GTO is derived from the XX. Hence the engine type F140CE in the XX and F140CF in the GTO. Not to mention the numerous chassis modifications resulting in that you for instance can't fit a GTO exhaust system on a regular 599 GTB.

Get your facts straight before going on a rant.

I would also suggest you check my post history in this thread before attempting to school me about this upcoming car.

You're right and I think you have to have had a limited edition as well. I haven't had a V12 before so I probably will be out of luck!!

Fully agreed. I haven't had a single urge to drive my 458 since owning the F12.

Me thinks your 599GTO ownership is showing! Since this is the F12 forum I must call you on it. The F12VS does not 'need to be' light years better than the existing F12 as IMHO it eclipsed the 599GTO years ago in all objective measures. Its a shame all the current 599GTO owners will not get to cleanly own the new F12 because then they would not be able to explain all years of trashing the F12. As I have said in the past, you can be sure that the F12VS will be an F12. Just as the F60 America, TRS, and the SP America are F12s. I think a major difference between F12 owners and 599GTO owners is that we chose the car for what it actually is and not what we think it will be worth especially if we don't drive it. Sorry, just had to call it like it is. It's kind of interesting but very predictable to see current 599GTO owners starting to praise the new F12VS as long as it has enough distance on paper with the F12.

I own both an F 12 and 599 GTO . if you asked me The GTO is much more visceral and much much more fun to drive in comparison to the F 12 and I would choose the GTO anytime over the F12 I'm not such a big fan of the F12 but of course it's a very nice machine with a tremendously strong engine. but to drive the GTO is just so special. said it already a 100 times but I think one must experience it life to understand. regards e

Equally I will call on the F12 not being a patch on the raw experience the GTO is, you cant compare plush leather lined cabin with the stark stripped out GTO, nor can you compare the sound the two make, admittedly the F12 does sound good but again its a more refined sound.

The gearbox in the F12 doesn't nearly has as much drama as the F1 box in the GTO has.

Strange comment about driving because looking at the GTO owners on the forum most seem to put mileage on their cars.

You can say the F12 eclipsed the GTO, in figures perhaps but as a driving tool and for feel it simply hasn't and it wasn't supposed to.

Definitely not my take away. Some folks advocate driving their cars and indeed do but lets be serious here. Since 2012 there has been a huge wave of hate-ish language for the car that replaced it and a constant flow of market value and investment return analysis. Countless threads on why the badge on the car should make it a hypercar and share the hypercar forums on FChat. There is even a recent thread (599GTO owner) promoting Internet 'hate' to make sure Ferrari does not come close to 800HP on the F12VS. If you are a happy F12 owner it just seems to smack you in the face nearly every day. We get it. You love your car but it is what it is.

What is that meant to mean? You are being extremely presumptuous and condescending here. I have had the F12 and still have my 599 GTO and for a period have had both at the same time. I KNOW the F12 very well and enjoyed it very much.......BUT it is not a patch on the GTO for feel, thrill and sheer enjoyment. In fact the only reason I ended selling the F12 was because each time I went to the garage and had to decide on which car to take out the F12 would lose every time.

So please tell us about your 599 GTO ownership experience?

Why are F12 owners even trying to measure themselves to GTO owners....it's a retarded comparison. Different cars, different agendas, different goals and frankly different target audience. And I can assure you there are far far more negative threads on the GTO than there have been on the F12. And at the end of the day the reality...secondary market GTO prices heading one way and secondary F12 prices heading another.....so what is the market telling you about desires?

Don't mean to be negative just a little more honest in my opinion than usual seeing as this is the F12 forum. The hate post just spoke volumes about some owners as no one objected.
