Could go the rescue route and have done it twice. I show my dogs and usually compete in either shutzhund or AKC/CKC obedience. A rescue can't do these activities.

Besides dog shelters here in BC are empty. My local shelter that services three towns has one dog.

Am glad to hear that the shelters in BC are empty. And, again, I apologize for nagging, it's a reflex!

    No need to apologize........

I see buying a pure bred dog, puppy or youth or adult, you should do something with it. Its like buying a track car but never using on the track!

Thanks.. Currently only one ear is straight, the other is still floppy. He's kind of funny to look at, but it also adds to the cuteness. So far he sleeps 2 to 3 hours is taken outside for bathroom and playtime. He plays 30 minutes. Comes back in and sleeps.

Brilliant! Congrats. We've had GSD's since 1990, usually high quality dogs but they are not used for breeding or training.

Our departed friend Caro, with his characteristic drooping ear. He was our most loyal yet.

A couple of months ago we took in a new family member: Pancho. At 19 months, used to kennell life at the breeder, he is just bursting with enthousiasm. He can't believe all the walks he gets to take (about 2.5 hours each day). The forests and lakes we have in our village, he just laps it up. Such great fun to go walking with him and good for our health too.

Always impressive how dogs can be such bundles of energy one minute and such lazy bones the next...T

No need to apologise for an Aventador. But there is need to apologise for not being a Ferrari owner. :)

Beautiful animals...I will be spending considerable time looking at photos of canines rather than reading about cars.

For those interested in working dogs (and this is probably well known) working-dog.eu is a valuable resource for researching extended pedigrees, photos, bloodlines and videos. The premium membership is well worth the nominal fee.

Onno, I do not think I have the requisite patience to jump through all the hoops that are prerequisites to Ferrari ownership. Perhaps, however, if I came across a F12 in nero with a tan leather interior...who knows. BTW, the Netherlands are the home of exceptional working dogs as you know.

Beautiful - Berners were our family dogs growing up in Switzerland - extremely sweet and loyal dogs and yours looks just perfect.

Thanks Lukas..she's special, very outgoing unusually so,dislikes thunder loud noises loud voices, sensitive as you know they are..really likes the grandkids and it is reciprocated, witness.
Another pic of her pack mates shows Bomz in all his silly glory as Leonbergers can be just a klick off and Doodle Oscar befuddled as usual..he did not get the Poodle bright gene as the blockhead lab clearly dominates, but he's a good guy nonetheless.
Who's that in your header? Handsome..and that redbraked sicko is ok too! ;)
    Cheers,
