Why have those that have been invited to the launch of the latest hardcore version of the F12 in Germany not post anything about the car yet? I believe I saw a post that the launch was yesterday. Hope they will give us some pics or specs on the car soon. A friend of mine in OZ has just been invited to the virtual launch in Melbourne for this extreme version of the F12 in Melbourne on the 13-14th July. As usual only the vvips are invited. Hope to hear from those in Germany soon!!!

Same old story, here we go again... Sod off and check your facts please

Because if they figure out you leak like a sieve the day after coming back from an expressly private preview, you won't get invited to the next one.

Yes it does. Ticks a lot of the boxes ...

Presentation / preview is happening as we speak. Certain people are speccing their car at the same time. Ferrari makes sure this is kept very "private" so don't expect too much in terms of pics and info.

You could say the new Ferrari motto is 'form follows function' with their new car designs. Their designer Flavio Manzoni has stated that he is no fan of the 'retro' look or even retro 'details' from the past. Every design feature is there for a reason and that design must push beyond current boundries. Time will tell how much 'new' has been designed into the latest F12 street car version.

I bought my RHD 599 GTO new in late 2010. An indie dealer said to me at the time the 599 GTO will dip then climb. How right he was. I was offered well over 500,000 GBP recently by another indie dealer, which is an uplift of over 50% on what I paid new. I can only imagine the margin the dealer intended to add.

Right now the 599 GTO is perfect for me. It's an incredible car to drive, it looks the dogs bollocks, it sounds like a beast and is worth a stack more than I paid for it.

I've been placed on the list for the new F12 VS. If I get one, cool. If I don't, I'll just have to make do with my 599 GTO ;). Oh, and I don't give a toss if the F12 VS is called a GTO.

How wasn't it? It wasn't raced anywhere, there are no famous tales or memories from venues. The GTO badge did what it intended to do and that was offer Ferrari higher profit margins. People are attempting to justify the GTO badge by pointing to the 599XX which was just a test bed and has competed nowhere.

My price comment may have been off as the premiums in North America were ridiculous at the time..

It's a tuned up 599 and everyone knows it. The GTO badge was nothing short of marketing. People on here think it has some 1960's era mystique and history. It's like the "raw feeling" comments, what does that mean exactly? Excessive windnoise, rocks hitting the wheel wells and a clunky gearbox? F12 does everything levels better. Price wise it's another story as a speculators are very active in the scene at the moment.

Your comment above is either because:

    A) You're actually a cool dude, having some fun like the rest of us and deliberately yanking a few chains to key the pot boiling. In which case, bravo.

    B) You're a sad git who has deep issues with the 599 GTO and its badge (which yes we all know is just marketing), that you have zero experience of the said car so you're unfortunately talking out of your wotsit and that you're most probably pissed because you missed out on a great car and a significant profit. In which case, get over it.

:) … It isn't even worth it DC. I'd be happy to start a discussion with somebody who knows what the car is all about and has actually driven it. Many other GTO owners will agree with me I'm sure.

Let's not waste any more time on this and keep this thread on topic = what the F12 VS will be all about. The GTO is what it is … a fantastic car which pushes all the right buttons when properly driven. If Ferrari managed to create such a car again on the basis of the F12 then we can only be very happy about it and this won't do the 599 GTO any harm. These are exciting times and we should all be happy about this.

    Happy times …

    Cheers,

    M

Is this the GTO or the new gen F12?

    From the article:
Ferrari unveiled the F12berlinetta in 2012 and it immediately became an instant success. At that time, it was the most powerful road legal car Ferrari had ever built and it stayed that way before LaFerrari came to the scene. The F12 was built as a successor to the 599 GTB so if you take a look at the history of 599, there was a very special model which was released before the supercar was taken off the shelves, the 599 GTO. This gives us a reason to get excited about this F12 mule.

Thanks for that. Is the no GTO badge now 100%? Also is the interior fully stripped out a la Speciale?
