Wasn't the 2005 Ford GT built by Steve Saleen? I'm fairly certain it was.

Guess it was just brand-badged too. LOL

The Amazing History Of Ford's Greatest Supercar

" While the assembly started at Mayflower Vehicle Systems in Norwalk, the cars were painted by Saleen in Troy, with the engine and manual transmission along with interior finishing being done in the SVT building at Ford's Wixom plant."

In other news, the McClaren F1 is just a BMW-Weissman that they bodied since McClaren did zero development on the engine or gearbox. The 458 should also be badged a getrag since it's transmission is also shared with other luxury cars.

Also - BMW brand-badges their motors since they use Mahle pistons and Clevite bearings.

And yes, this argument is still silly.

Brand-badging is buying a Toyota IQ, dolling it up in Aston Martin trim, and selling it as a Cygnet. Taking a WRX and selling it as a Saab. What we are discussing here is modern engineering and manufacturing with a focus on racing and homologation vs mass production, but that doesn't jive with a select few's view of the world. This really isn't a new thing though as many have pointed out - many classic cars are bodied by one company and built by another, a mix of engines and parts, etc.

In the future we will see even more of this as things move towards CFRP construction. See BMW's and Toyota's partnership as an example. I also predict we will see dedicated CFRP factories that will supply multiple manufacturers...just as others point out we see in F1 today with almost all the teams. It simply will not make sense for all auto manufacturers to produce all of their cars in-house, but that doesn't mean they won't own the design - as is the case here.

Built in Wixom mi... another friend who was the chief packaging eng. painted the prototype/test mule at his home one night. He lived about a mile from me. He later also created the open top ( yellow concept version) that ford didn't built.

While I'm no fan of the Maserati TC, there were many significant differences between it and the standard LeBaron-especially the Getrag 5 speed version with the twin cam Maserati head.
It was not even remotely a "badge engineered" car.

Just giving you a hard time because you have a poor attitude."

Thanks for the clarification. However I don't feel you were giving me a hard time at all, that's just your own minds perception. After all it is more than obvious you are your not capable enough to do so due to your proclivity to constantly and consistently refuse to recognize/acknowledge fact or admit you could be wrong about anything. I was really beginning to become concerned about your eyesight but now I can clearly understand it's only because of your limited view from your glass residence.

Lol, babci you of all people cannot say this: "or admit you could be wrong about anything" :D

Heck most posting on this thread think you are wrong, or making a ridiculously trivial point. The new GT is a bloody Ford, who cares who they sub-contracted the design and build to, Ford had the idea and paid for it, and as brave enough to put their brand on it.
    Pete
ps: by the way one of my sons owned a Ford Fiesta as a first car. One day while looking under the bonnet I noticed the build plate said it was actually manufactured by Kia. But when we went to get spare parts for it we asked for Ford Fiesta etc parts.

Many brands, even clothes are not made by the label that is attached to them. That is how brands work ...

More fancy sentences - I love it!

You know a lot about me...how flattering.

Seems like a lot of people in this thread are over for a sleepover in my glass residence with me.

Chortle, Pete I see you need new glasses as well to observe facts. See my post #263 (excerpt:" So I stand corrected"). That statement more than qualifies I am willing to admit when I have been wrong on this thread and as well have adequately done so on FerrariChat. in other threads in the past.

" most posting on this thread think you are wrong"

And some don't. It is irrelevant to the fact Ford did/does not build the car.

"Ford had the idea and paid for it, and as brave enough to put their brand on it"

Ahh. Something we finally mutually seem to agree on. Excerpt of my post # 280 to you. In case you missed it "I applaud the fact that they are stepping up with their extensive check book and some of their resources to try to repeat a different version of their prior accomplishments."

So true. I got some good insight from Aircon, daytona 355 & P.Singhof amongst your other fans.

    "The three stooges!"

Careful, the ricochet from your poorly aimed rocks might shatter the glass and you could become homeless...

    Question:

Who designed and built the first prototype, Ford or Multimatic?

    Don't have a porch. I have a deck and a patio.

...and I'm quite sure this has nothing to do with the Ford GT.
