    heya folks
been awhile as I have been flat out rebuilding my QV
I suspected a head gasket and it was but from a cracked head stud not a failure of cooling port or gasket. It basically lost tension in the bottom corner and blew the gasket.
It is back in and running to my relief but I have found that my oversight of not replacing the seals around the injectors has come back to bite me and I have 2 leaking causing a vacuum leak and rough idle as well as a bit of "pig rooting" in top gear.
Can anyone point me in the right direction of a replacement nozzle and seals.
I have heard that a Mercedes 450 SL nozzle is the same but does that apply to the seal as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Peter

    Hey thanks for that reply
I did find Birdmans thread but found conflicting reports on the seal.
    Superformance list 2 different seals
Fuel System Parts for Ferrari Mondial - Superformance
Really don't want to pull it down and have to wait for parts.
Might just order 8 of each

You want both the "O-ring" and the "rubber". P/N 113570 and P/N 114661

I see what you mean Peter, yes I would agree to go with Superformance for the seals, but I only see 1 offered.
You might need o rings as well ???

I found that the 85-89 MB 190e has the exact same injectors. I pulled a few from a local pick-n-pull. Exact same part number. The only difference is a MB logo stamped on below the part number.

I did not check the seals, so I can't help there. I haven't cleaned/used the pick-n-pull injectors yet. That's a project for later this summer

Bell you have the earlier style set up with screw in bushes not the push in type with the O ring at top groove.
your engine must be 1847 or less.
Mine is number 2470 so has the later style as per thread I posted.

SidTX is spot-on: Bosch 0437502047 as used in the MB 190e is what's presently in my car.

You may find that the price of the injectors is similar to having them cleaned. I paid USD 30 each for these new from Bosch (manufactured in Europe, I don't remember where). I see no merit in cleaning old ones if new can be obtained so cheaply. There are both brass and steel variants, with steel being OE in my car. I don't believe the material makes any difference.

I think the O-rings cross to a Rolls Royce part. Bosch p/n 3430210606 according to my notes.

For the other rubber piece, I believe Ferrari or one of the aftermarket suppliers is the only option. Don't think these cross to anything else.

However, I felt the need to pull some from a junkyard MB 190e to, ahem, "justify" to my wife, the purchase of an injector test rig.

In all seriousness, I bought the rig so that I could test the injectors on her 85 MB W123 (300D). And, since the rig had an optional adapter for the gas injectors, I pulled a few of those from the junkyard as test (play) items. I'll have to say, that for the MB W123 injectors (which are rebuildable, adjustable, and expensive), the test rig worked like a charm, and was more than worth the purchase price.

And anyway, who doesn't like playing with tools (toys) that can spew fuel at over 100PSI?

    Sid,

By fuel , you meant Diesel, for the test fluid in both Gas and Diesel injector tests.
    I hope.
I have an injector test rig also,,,, I'm going to test my 308 injectors with diesel.
I feel, Gasoline is just too dangerous?

Or, I might use lacquer thinner....??
    Opinions, feedback needed.

    Thanks all.

Diesel is used for both the Gasoline injector test and the Diesel injector test.
The rig will vaporize gasoline, which when mixing with air, becomes waaaay to explosive.
While conceptually, a flame-thrower might be fun, the possibility of explosion is just tooo great for me to play with. Fuel-Air explosive anyone? Not me.

This is where I bought my injector rig. nice, small and compact, and bolts down to a workbench

    Heya folks
just a brief update on the injector replacement.
I pulled the nozzles out of the injector bush easily and then the bigger rubber donut O' ring.
Pulled out the circlips that hold the bush down and that's where it all stalled...there is no way known that you can pull that bush out without destroying it.
Mine were a black plastic and I dicked around for nearly 2 hours on the one bush before giving it a biiiiiiiig miss and pulled off the intake manifolds in around an hour and knocked em out from the bottomd with a 10mm 3/8 drive tube socket.
I have just ordered new bushes with O rings from Geert Jan off his 400 site

Did you take any pictures of the process? I'm thinking I may end up doing the same with my car while it's apart. Very old rubber in an important place.

If Ferrari wrote Service Bulletins 30 years after a model was new, this would be on the list ;)
