Has Nico won 3 of the last 4 races? Ham choking under the pressure? Imagine what would happen if he had a car which wasn't massively superior to the rest?
There comes a time when toil bating becomes as tiresome as toil himself. We appear to have reached that point...
According to Crashtor himself it happened due to sudden headwind or his DRS. So what do you mean by Max almost causing it? Does he control the wind AND Crashtors DRS button? That would be something, new fly-by-wire options to control other cars.
+1 I *really* wonder what happened. This is more than cold tires. Wheelspin, fine...but the car, out of nowhere, jinked left (at over 200kph!)! Add in the sudden power jolt in Canada... PdR mentioned something about start settings, giving the ERS system different power. Doesn't really explain the sudden jolt though at high speed. Did we ever know what happened with Alonso in testing? Same for him, another driver that doesn't just make a mistake.
TRue, People can say what they want about Kimi but he's probably one of the drivers that made less driving mistakes during his entire carreer...both canada and today errors are very fishy, something strange has happened with that car....
Alonso said in the interview after the crash that he had observed Kimi spinning tires in the corners before the accident, so it wasn't out of nowhere.
I still can't see Nico winning the WDC this year. Whilst I still think that whichever car is ahead at the start will win the race, barring issues, because the car behind never seems to be able to stay close enough to pass, Lewis is the one who will keep getting pole and be first to the first corner the most. At least my theory about that seems to be correct. Despite what the fanbois claim, I always suspected that Nico and Lewis were too close in performance for either to 'dominate' the other. It seems to be all about track position. However, if Nico can get back the qualifying mojo he had last year.....who knows!
Reports are that, when a rather sulky Hamilton left the team very early after the race, Nico's crew said that he would not exhibit such a 'bad loser' behaviour, something he had learned from Schumacher. Mind games against Hamilton, telling him he is not on the level of the truly great drivers?
yes, but then in the video, the car just jinks left. At over 200kph. The wheelspin he got much earlier, upon exit...The jinking left I don't understand. Alonso said it was strange.
I don't particularly like Hamilton, but he is a 2x WDC. And, well along on his way to a 3rd. That would tie him with Senna, Stewart, Brabham, Lauda and Piquet. Only Vettel (4), Prost (4), Fangio (5) and Schumacher (7) have more. Like it or not (and I have to begrudgingly give him credit), he's in rarified air and has skills. He has had EVERY advantage, though. He was coddled along by Uncle Ron and then made a good/lucky move to Merc. He certainly seems to whine and can be a bad loser, but there are a lot in the gallery that don't like him, and he's had to overcome that negative commentary and do his job. Not that he gives a crap about Internet team bosses. I'd like to Rosberg win, though. It would be good for the sport to have another WDC race (how many would that make ... Vettel, Alonso, Hamilton, Button and Raikkonen makes 4 racing at one time) and not a foregone conclusion mid-way through the season. CW
