Hadn't been on EBay looking for Mondials in a long time. Was I in a trance while I was looking or are 3.2s actually going for 36-49K and T s for over 60K. That's different. Glad my wife's 3.2 is already in our garage.

You'll notice a majority of them are dealers and it is the same on Hemmings. I noticed the same thing with 308 and 328's some dealers are buying them up and jacking up prices and also cars are trading a lot from dealer to dealer. With the prices of all other F car models going up I can see no reason why the Mondial wouldn't go up also.

My dad called the other day and said he saw an 86 Cab sell on Barrett Jackson for $22,500. And the Mondial 8s still seem to struggle to get above 20 for a driver. When things really move up They will all move up. Right now I think it may be dealers who think the 3X8 pop will start applying to the Mondial. Some wishful thinking if you will. But we've heard the words here, get in while you still can. We shall see.

Prices are still for best in breed. When they all go up, some day it will make economic sense to restore.

No offense Dirk, but I don't think the 3 bidders at Barrett Jackson would dictate what these cars can sell for right now. I would have agreed with you last year, but the increase in all classic cars this year has been mind blowing.
I think if you can buy a good 3.2 cab at $22,500, that is a steal !

    Cheers

That is their high asking prices, that is what you see it advertised on many sites, its not selling.

    Folks,

This train is already beginning to move out of the station. The price of the ticket to ride on the next one, will absolutely cost more ! :)

    Just watch ...........

I've now turned down two unsolicited offers of 50K that I believe were legitimate (originated form respected source) for my 3.2 cab that has had a little (publicized here and known by the source) front bodywork due to a truck intentionally backing into it in a parking lot space.

"Intentionally backing in to it"? Sounds like an ex-wife or disgruntled GF story!

Check the auction results and use your head fellas. The results don't lie. Even if Mondials are worth let's say 45k for a good example, the high bid would me MUCH higher. They do have phone bidding. The dealer prices are not real and many people are already waking up to this. The prices have already leveled off across the board and will decrease as more and more people refuse to pay the "dealer price." The only people left speculating right now are the numbskulls. The smart money has already exited the game months ago. It's all a game in the end, be smart

I did think that if Barrett Jackson is primarily a muscle car venue the price would not be representative. I can't argue that it is a hard number, but maybe an anomaly. Some go high in auction and some go low. I also don't know it's condition or if there was any history.

The only reason I'd like prices to go way up is so my Dad stops pestering me about the money I've put into it and I'll look like a genius :D

When I first brought up buying an old Italian convertible for over $20K I said, hey, at least it won't lose money. But then it went down a few K in value. I think I'm back where I started today. Well, if I put it back together ;)

There was also a Countach at mecum that a dealer currently has for sale for 340k. High bid? 200k.

But there was also a 560sl that sold in Indy for $55,000 plus juice.

Just because the bid goes to a certain number doesn't mean that's what it is worth.

It takes two people bidding to raise the value.

Fair enough, but let's say the bidding went on to 240k on the CT, which it most likely didn't. Even then there's a 100 grand hole missing in market value. Makes absolutely zero sense.

I found the 86 Mondi 3.2 that sold last year at BJ. I think the buyer got a great deal, you can't get one of these in that condition and low mileage for that price today ! Again, if the major service was recent, then excellent, if it was 10 years ago, be prepared to spend another $4k - $7k on major and replacements.

If that's the car in question then it is no longer "market correct". I saw it in person and even then I thought that was a great buy at $26,500, but that was September 2014, today's prices are completely different. I bought a Testarossa last year for $60K. LOL.

I follow the 308,328 market relatively closely and it is the very early 308's and the 89 328's esp. the B models that are pulling in big numbers and selling quickly. It will be interesting to see which of the Mondial series collectors decide are worth the most.

That's short money for a 3.2. I think that there aren't that many buyers for European cars at the B.J. auctions.
