Thanks. The US unveil is at Pebble Beach (although privately) - that is a 'car show'. Good to receive yet another confirmation on the info we've received so far. Btw, Ferrari always uses PS/CV for power, so the number is 780 PS, not bhp.
Mods: Should these two threads on this car not be combined as all this info is already on the other thread and has been for some days?
Anybody in Canada or more specifically the Vancouver area have any information? I just contacted my salesman and they don't have any details yet. Just wondering if just US and UK dealerships have info right now.
Details released so far very appealing and I will probably commit to it (have been informed that I have an allocation) and will trade my F12 for it as I see no value in keeping both. Viewing next month. But have to question how limited is "limited" when the recent Aperta I purchased was limited to 499 (and the 599GTO to approx 599) so is 800 really a limited edition for this segment of the market?
Demand is probably at least 2x the production number (700/800 whatever they settle on) so yes it is limited.
Also, if they plan to finish off with an actual F12 GTO based on the F12 M or possible F12 XX model, the F12 GTO would then have the ability to be produced in lesser numbers still, if that makes any sense. In other words, it might be a way for Ferrari to leave something on the table for en even more "special" model.
How does anyone think the allocation system works? If you are offered a 'GTO' and say no, next time there is a limited edition car do they say you are off the list as you didn't want an LE car when we offered you one or do they say, you are a good approved customer, could have had a GTO but chose not to, so now when we produce another even more limited car, we will offer you one as you havent used up any of your LE credit with us? Clearly if you do get an LE car you might only get another LE model if you still own it.
From what I've experienced through my dealer, your status seems more dependant on the amount of money you spend with Ferrari rather than accepting the 'right' cars. To my knowledge, there is no such system resembling the Limited Edition 'credit' you mentioned - at least not for us here in Europe. Spend loads of money over time through Corse Clienti, and the effect is the same as having a golden ticket.
I am not sure how this applies exactly but Ferrari has a point system and it depends on what you buy and I also believe on how many options you get for example a loaded f12 would rate higher then a barebones F12. I am not sure how they use this but I know what my point score is through my dealer. I also think they give points for vintage ferraris especially if they were bought from a dealer .. Again I do not really know how this works specifically but the dealer showed me this info..
I'm sorry but I had to interject...suggesting that they're doing anything *except* maximizing profit with current price levels is silly...in effect, you're saying that they're intentionally leaving money on the table for...reasons. That's just not how any business is run. And "preserving a history" is just another step in maximizing profit. Has nothing to do with MSRPs. If they thought they could sell more by raising prices, they would. No sane business wouldn't.
They are higher. The base price is misleading because it includes no options. Even a light spec car the option $$ add up very fast. There are stories of dealers getting fined if customers do not add a minimum number of options.
Is there some new information on the name of this new F12 ? GTO, Speciale or something else. Was told today by "someone very well informed" that it will be GTO, but I find it hard to believe.
Read the rest of this thread and you will find the answer to this and many other questions about this car
Whilst I think you are correct, it is very possible we won't know for absolute certain until the car is revealed as Ferrari has form on this. I get a look in July assuming I can find the time to go to the factory so there may be more of a decision by then. Maybe.
Correct. That title has been used on numerous special and limited cars. I believe they have used Serie Speciale as well on occasion. I wonder if the name could be F12P Berlinetta Speciale as a tribute to the 1965 365P Berlinetta Speciale.
