F1 does not need big changes - Jean Todt

He seems to think that the problem is disgruntled drivers and people upset that one team is winning.

On the topic of getting involved, he can sit with Bernie to figure it out.

    Great leadership. : /

+1 as Mosley was a person who cared about the sport overall. I could care less about his off track tastes. He cared for F1.

...or someone totally new with related experience. Perhaps the problem is having the usual cast of characters just changing roles?

    +1

Mosley was way better than Todt.

Controversial maybe, but he got things done.

Todt is just a figurehead who consider his role as a reward for his many years in motorsport.
I remember when he was a rally navigator...

Ok. He says there is a headache not a cancer.

Then why does practically every fan on every F1 chat board complain loudly and incessantly about the sport and its problems?

Despite what some with very minds here think, Mosley would the best choice. The level of safety in F1 is due to Max. And what I read about his thoughts as to costs, he has the best ideas.

I have to believe JT might have been misquoted, but if not..........

I'm sorry but Mosey killed f.1, the end of slick tires was his marvelous idea and f.1 was never the same since then.....

It's seems like Jean's competencies only go so far. No different than any other worker in any other job, he's just not fit for the FIA job.

It's certainly looking that way. :(

I had very high hopes for him when he took over - He's been around the sport for a long time and seen struggles as well as success. Initially, I was hoping he was "keeping quiet" while he figured it out. But he does seem to be pretty clueless these days.

Having said that, I'm starting to wonder what he can actually do - As the Viz noted, the FIA abrogated their responsibilities when they sold the rights. I suspect any "real" changes need to come from Bernie, and even he's now handcuffed by the "inept" (per Horner) SWG.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Todt is a tree hugger and a forward thinker he also stated he would not interfere with twisting results and show fixing ...I was skeptical at first as he came from the Ferrari camp, but IMO he has done as he said he would....it could be ALOT worse.

I think we shouldn't try to defend our pet preferences here, but look at the bigger picture.
Abandoning slick didn't damage F1 like the present rules have.

Having said that, Mosley was the right man to counter Bernie; they both came from the same background - they were once team owners, "poachers" who became game keepers.

Todt looks toothless against Ecclestone, that's the reality.
At least Mosley could control it to a certain extent.

Todt is also toothless against the big manufacturers, and rubber-stamped their choice without any murmur.
Now Todt tells us he is "sick and tired" of listening to the smaller teams' complains, and HATE customer cars. What about that to protect the sport?

The man is so bias towards big manufacturers that he his not fit to preside the FIA impartially.

Yes take F1 away from the engineers and give it back to the drivers. Much more horsepower and slicks so we can see who the real drivers are...

Make no mistake Bernie called all the shots and still does, and that included keeping Mosley onside at the time, despite the utter balls up/farce he made of running the FIA and abusing his position for personal vendettas.

Here read this Max Mosley's legacy still felt in F1 - Formula 1 - Motor Sport Magazine

More power - Agreed. [Although, they do have plenty of torque with the ERS right now, and the old adage; "power sells engines, torque wins motor races" springs to mind.]

As the late great Mark Donohue once noted, "if you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the entry of the next, then you have enough power......"

More tire? Not so sure on that. The late, great, Gilles once suggested putting them onto F3 size rubber - Would increase braking distances, a *lot* (hence more overtaking under braking) and they'd slide around a lot more of course.

    Cheers,
    Ian

$360 million for 100 years!? LOL.

Mosley is obviously not fit to lead either.

    Agreed

I am convinced that the reason races are so processional, and overtakings rare has something to do with the tyres size. I cannot understand people suggesting larger tyres: that would make races more boring, IMHO.

Present F1 tyres give too much grip and too much confidence. If you limit the tyres contact patch, cars would become more difficult to control, more twitchy under braking and snaking under acceleration.

If F1 cars were more difficult to drive, and prone to get out of shape, that would sort out the boys from the men, I believe and make GPs more interesting to watch.
