Yes, old John was respected, but he was also known for reporting the highest top speeds on any car! His Jensen Interceptor number was certainly gratifying to Interceptor owners, but not duplicated elsewhere. Did the review mention wind conditions? The test I noted claimed neutral conditions. In any event, as CNPapa says, it's pretty much academic in the US, and I think these days in Europe, too. When I lived there (things may have changed) the autobahns were either crowded, had 130kph road construction limits, or both almost all the time. I could drive faster, longer in Italy, and at least in the early '90s, the cops didn't want to be bothered. In the US, it's been brief bursts to 145 in three cars, but not the Bora. Pointless, just something to break the boredom.

Thank God not much has changed in Italy...

Just darted all over the country supporting a friend's pre production 1955 works MGA in the 2015 Mille Miglia a few weeks ago. It was simply unbelievable with cops URGING us to run red lights!

    Thanks for your comments.

    Regards.

DriverSource in Houston has 2 Boras with a "SOLD" sign on them does anyone know what they sold for. One is black with a red interior and the other one is yellow with a black interior. I didn't have time to get VIN or any other information.

Bora at Autoform is real. The car has been stored there for about a year, and recently put up for sale.

I think the price has change since it was first mentioned. Now @ $179K.

For the record, what was the price originally? I don't recall. Was it $159k? Looks nice.

Maybe someone else recalls the exact amount. The "probably gone" comment was because at that time the price was very good. I don't feel like this one is that big of a deal @ $179K unless you believe in a $400K-500K Bora marketplace.

    Agreed.

There was a Bora for sale at BHCC for some time that looked ok. It started out at $184k in February and was reduced to $147k about a month or two later. I didn't sell until just a short time ago. Was there something wrong with it, or is the market not as hot as the dealers would like us to believe? Here it is:

The one at BHCC needed a restoration. It was ok for a used car but not for a collection. I would have had to have it restored.

It looked tired even for a driver but yes it might have been a decent basis for a restoration.

Hi Terry, You stopped by Le Belle Machinne last year right?

Have you thought about attending the Pittsburg Vintage Grand Prix in July?

Some of us Maserati folks are trying to make that the replacement even for this years cancelled Pocono event.

From time to time there's (varying) quotes as to the total number made, of all sorts.
Would be nice to have full authoritative nondisputed evidence.
How many odd#s (were they all RHD?), how many even#s (all LHD?), which of each of those were 4.7 vs 4.9 and what were their s/n and shipping dates??
Factory authentic records summary available anywhere?

And, how many (best authoritative guess--whatever that could possibly mean) of all or each of the above subsets still exist. Which were indisputably destroyed, dismantled, etc.?

Hi Bob, yes that's right. I've only been to Le Belle Macchine twice in five years, once in 2010 when I was shopping for my GranSport and once in 2014 when I was shopping for my Mistral. It's too bad about the Pocono event, but I LOVE the idea of meeting at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix since it is less than half the distance for me. I'm all for it!! It would be much easier for me to show up with my cars instead of a rental. Unfortunately this year I'm going to be in Japan that week, but I can try to rally the Maserati faithful in the area to help make this a good showing. It would really be something to get Maseratisti from the midwest together with those from the east coast.

It's kind of short notice now but people can still register for the Cortile event at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix.

What's needed is a peak at the log book the last page of which has been posted on here.

I'm sure everything could be extracted from that.

I never asked Maserati why don't you?

I know this car well. It was at the 1988 Monterey event when Maserati was the marque.

    Run Forest run ...

I know the 2nd owner listed. He had it at that event.
I also know the last owner who is not listed on there.

    Flood car, I believe Katrina?

Looks like he gave up on it.

    This is 117.114
    Matching numbers; non-original color.

Early 1972 car with the non-rounded headlight covers.
Again, a very early car with mystery black louvers in front.

Likely imported 1979 by Dr. DeBakey...
("DeBakey: 1908–2008; 'Greatest surgeon of the 20th century")

    Anybody know this Bora?

    Thanks.

At one point Stephen James had a huge stereo system installed in the car as well as the world's largest trident decal that covered the entire hood. One interesting note about that car for those of you with longer legs ... Stephen cut out the battery box to recover the lost passenger leg room. I don't remember where he relocated the battery at that time. It's a modification I've contemplated on more than one long trip. He tended to futz with cars and then something would happen and he'd sell them and get another. He also ended up with Bora #1046. He's the one who did the modifications to that poor car. I think he lost a disassembled Khamsin in some shop in Florida due to unpaid bills? Marc S. may know about that car. The guy who ran that shop is the one who built a HI-Perf Bora engine for a customer and I think he worked a bit on Bora #1046 as well.

Perhaps Jorge can describe where the battery is located in the car today?

The battery is still in the front luggage compartment in front of the elongated passenger footwell. The air intake in the hood was another modification since early Boras didn't have this feature. The car's original color was silver grey or Argento something or other.
Bob do you know the serial number of the Bora that had the twin turbos, Recaro seats and a whole bunch of other mods? I saw the car a few years ago and it was beautiful but far from original. The owner at the time was spending boat loads of $ to convert it to FI with an aftermarket engine management system, Motech I think.
