yes :)
So this would be the Brunei-registered (BM9988) car, without the red trim? Image Unavailable, Please Login
The black RHD 288 GTO....does it seem more likely that someone has built a very convincing RHD GTO or that a RHD black car has emerged from Brunei? The car looks the part from most angles, which is a strong point in its favour being real, but RHD is odd. Anyone get a closer look or is there a photo of the interior that may help?
Considering the car is owned by DK Engineering - or was brought to the event by them - I would say it's the Brunei car.
The 288 actually doesn't look too bad in Black. or should I say: The 288 looks actually pretty good in Black. The difference between being an optimist and pessimist
55555: Sorry to disagree. Sold new 12 June 1985 by Garage Francorchamps SA to Jean Blaton in Belgium. Sold by Blaton 24 January 1986 through Garage Francorchamps to a German resident in Korschenbroich (Nordrhein-Westfalen area, Germany). Later sold to Graber Automobile in Switzerland. In December 1988 it had 1'300 kms and was still with Graber. Early 1989 sold by Graber to Mr. R. F. in the greater Zurich area. In 2014 sold to Belgium. I have all the original paperwork from Francorchamps. Marcel Massini
Pics of the red Brunei car (pre conversion) and blue one can be found here: Brunei Special Projects: the Ferrari 288 GTO - Paolo Garella
Prefer the black with the red line down the side. That line to me is a distinguishing part of the body and helps draw out the curves and so should be in a contrasting colour
Spent some time with 55181. Here are some iphone photos. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I agree. In fact, all the non-original colors bestowed upon GTOs (yellow, black, silver, white, etc) only serve to underscore that the iconic shape of a GTO looks best in red! I also note that several cars painted different colors post-production are now back to red. The fact remains that every single GTO was completed in red originally, and perhaps this plays on the mind when considering other colors.
I see Tom Hartley jnr has just purchased a 288 gto with only 149 km. Is that the lowest mileage car known.
Somewhere in the UK today, an amazing collection and possibly the best original GTO I have seen. Image Unavailable, Please Login
