Yes, Ferrari sets up their street cars to under steer to keep drivers on the safer side. I took the advice of my challenge car mechanic and left the setup toward under steer/neutral until I get some more track time. Eventually ill go neutral/oversteer as it suits me better.

Having cars oversteer from the factory is a sure way to see more accidents especially with new tire technology that tend to be much less forgiving.

If you ask a designer I'm sure he would say: yes, this is a very well designed car, a step forward. The design works very well, the proportions are harmonious, with all these details it reflects its technical demand, its power and its performance capabilities. This car corresponds wit the corporate design language, it meets the spirit of the time, not too less - not too much, it clearly stands out from its competitors - you can see immediately, yes, it is Ferrari's mid-engine model.

At the very end I would say "on that level (are these details nice or not)" the styling of the 488 is a pure matter of taste.

For example I can tell you immediately three details which I never liked at the 458.

Well, most of us haven't seen it yet. And I, for one, have certainly learnt my lesson about judging the styling of a modern Ferrari before having seen it in the flesh. I think the 458 is a terrible looking car in photos, yet one of the best, if not the best, Ferrari in the flash.

That sounds like a rally car to me. Cool!

Shame everything else about the car resembles a stranded fish.

The one thing I do have to agree with you on is that oddly joined lip. Looks like some plastic they found in a nearby shed together with a local and some leftover superglue he wanted to try out. I'm curious as to why it's not formed as a part of the bumper, but rather looking like a clip-on. Designers ran out of time? There can't be any aerodynamic advantages of it essentially being a quasi panel gap?

Saw the first white and yellow 488 live at Ferrari Owners Day at Spa Francorchamps Belgium June 30th !

Along with a platoon of 488's in which you could drive half an hour for € 400 ... :)

    Impression ... :)

There is an aerodynamic advantage, see starting from 1.00 min.
    (accelerated air creates stability)

Great set of photos, that must have been quite a day.

    The yellow 488 looks fantastic.

On the strength of this video I'd have to agree with those complaining about the sound. Like it when it's blipped at a standstill, very F430, which is a good thing. But it doesn't have that 'end of the world' thing going on when it's being pushed in the track. Not that it would bother me unduly. It's more about the handling for me than the sound.

    Thanks, interesting video.

I was however referring to the side mountings, where there is a line which I don't think looks too good.

Is the inside/top of the front lower air dam always black/carbon when the rear air intake is black/carbon ?

Actually, looking again at the red car... It looks like the rear intake foil is red on that one with the hood open...

    oh sorry!

Regarding this line I'm with you, imo technically not clean solved.

And if I'm honest, the whole front area doesn't convince me completely.
But the same problem I had already with the 458... ;)

Perhaps you won't "get it" on the 488 either until it is way too late :)

Seeing all those red Ferrari's reminds me of all the Lexus SUV's in southern California. Wonder how hard it was to distinguish who's car was whos'?

After watchng this video I honestly think the car sounds pretty good for a turbo car. You can hear the Ferrari sound to it. We are just spoiled by the rich sound that N/A v8 Ferraris have made in the past. The 458 sounds like a symphony, but Im glad Ferrari took the time to make a turbo car sound good and still like a Ferrari.

I've already put myself on the list. If it's a dog, I'll dump it.

But I don't think it's a dog. I just think Ferrari is being lazy with all of us. They will sell them all -- so why try hard?

And I seriously question the need for going with the turbo just because "McLaren does it". That being said, I've heard from multiple sources that the Cal T is an awesome car and a huge step from the Cal 30.
