    Yes it looks pretty good, but if it snapped when you were driving with your foot into it you would be writing a different story. But I am still on your side.

    At the risk of beating a dead horse, I suspect the truth lies somewhere in the middle. As dozens have pointed out, 30 years of rubber technology absolutely must have resulted in a longer lasting belt. Also, Hill Engineering bearings seem far superior to the originals. I'm thinking that those factors could perhaps double the length of time between services. It's got to add at least some time, no?

    I'm planning on driving my new car pretty often and hear a lot of talk as to actual age, but what about mileage?

    How many miles is recommended to get out of a set of belts/tensioners?

    The look can be deceiving. You don't know the length of the fuse of this time bomb.

    Would some members here have access to a load cell?
    You can put the belt under strain and see how much pull it can take before snapping.

    Agreed.

    Preemptive maintenance has never hurt anyone, quite the opposite.

    The manual advises checks and replacements in order to keep your Ferrari in tip top shape. Why defy it?

    Those belts look quite good for something which had a stressful role to play for 20 years. Car has barely moved during that time?
