Will there be a F12 "HGTE" Announced at Frankfurt in September?

There has been a basic power shift in the last couple of years that has taken place between Ferrari and their dealers as to which customers gets to buy what cars. Here in the U.S. the potential buyers of all limited/special models are vetted by the factory. Your dealer forwards his list of clients that he thinks deserve the car based on past buying history and who have built a personal relationship with them over the years and sends all that information to Ferrari. While The factory maintains this balancing act between allocations and client base by deciding how many of these "specials" each dealership's is going to get based at least partially on which buyers best meet their own criteria and not necessarily that of the dealer. This makes for a lot of pissed off potential buyers and dealers when some of their best clients are refused new limited models simply because according to Ferrari they didn't made the cut.

 

In my eyes it's not so much about selling the cars - if you're out shopping for a brand new F your mind is made up before you enter the showroom - it's more about handling and creating a good client relationship.

Being on a Ferrari forum, it's obvious we know Ferrari owners are commited and usually involved in their ownership experience, rightfully expecting a high level of aftersales customer service. That is where some dealers utterly fail. Happy customers come back and swap cars (which is where $ is made), those not do business elsewhere.

This is what separates dealers with a strong brand from the rest, IMO.

On a side note, the basic monthly salary for F salesmen at my dealer used to be around £1000 / $1500 (roughly converted) before commision bonuses. Unsure what it is now but has surely risen, as where I live this is just about as low you could get away with paying someone. By comparison, a friend of mine with a German premium dealership had 3-4x that basic salary.

 

Speed racer you are correct. My dealer called me today about the F12xxx ie whatever it will be called. He said FNA has asked all the U.S. Dealers for list of customers that have expressed interest and have been good customers ( not sure of the definition).

Ferrari will then determine which customers will be "selected" to order a car.

For those in this thread said "all are sold" I doubt that why would Ferrari ask dealers for names and then disappoint everyone on the list?

Certain markets are for sure all sold. Thailand and Australia are sold out for sure with dealers trying to get extra allocations for specific good customers that missed out. In these two markets the customers were picked by Ferrari.

 

Same in the UK. That's why over here even the largest F dealers are now actively in the classics market. Dealers have capitulated on factory demands on Ferrari new car sales (understandable as long as the factory turn out winners dealers have zero leverage), dealers have also accepted increased demands to shift emphasis to selling Maserati (showroom space, workshop etc).

Meanwhile the trade in F50, F40 etc has boomed, margins huge by comparison to new and mainstream used, and servicing way better margins too (so long as they have the a specialist on site).

We all know 5 seems to be the magic number with Ferrari for selection on LE cars but from my experience there also seems to be a developing link between owning a classic F or two as part of the number.

For example while annual numbers are small, there's only one supplier of a F50 fuel tank and it's Maranello, they don't come cheap. Look at the introduction of Classische. A win:win? Dealers squeezed hard on new, but encouraged to play with classics to offset margins, Ferrari keeps closer eye on those customers who increasingly own both, a very nice side business develops in parts supply, Classische locks and tracks ownership, and even the perfect brand experience for entry level F and M buyers seeing dealer showrooms and workshops containing the occasional exotic for sale or in for service?

As for pissing people off, F know we will keep coming back for more punishment as long as the cars are amazing . Ferrari is at the top of its game.

 

My understanding was that this has already happened but perhaps others in the U.S. can comment?

UK dealers put their list in months ago so logic suggests everyone would have been asked at the same time.

 

Europe is always ahead the curve when it comes to new model launches and especially the LE's.To my knowledge U.S. dealers are still preparing their lists and don't expect confirmation of which clients will be receiving the cars and what their allocation number will be until late summer and or early Sept. Some of us I'm sure will be disappointed. The old way of doing things....What number you are on the list no longer applies it's strictly up to Ferrari and partially how hard your dealer is willing to fight for you.

 

Interesting as I know one US dealer who already has his allocation......

 

There have been preliminary numbers sent out but I do not believe these are firm as of yet. The factory may possibly revise these quotas going forward.

My dealer contacted me on Monday (29 June) to ask me if I wanted to be their list for the limited production F12 variant. That timing seems to line up with other US customers.

Allocations are defined from quite long time.... if there is any change is due t some resignation.... list of no configurable car will be available after presentation... the sam as for Speciale A

 

Option list was in last week.
Now updating on which option is go or no go.
Pricing will be out soon too.
And....options are not cheap at all....
I actually have to deselect options to limit the price of car reasonably....

Daytona racing seats means the Optionnal Sports seats found in the F12 ?

I would think it's the same Daytona pattern carbon racing seats debuted with the 488 GTB. Or at least something very similar.

 

I was hoping it would be more fully loaded like the Speciale so fewer options but clearly not. 90 options is sounding potentially very expensive.
