Any guesses on how much some of the first 488 GTBs will sell for? I've told myself I'll pay $50K over sticker to get one of the first cars but no more than that. Do I have a chance? Does anyone remember what kind of premium the 458 Italia got after it first came out? Thanks in advance.

In the U.S., Ferrari dealers aren't allowed to charge over list price for new cars, but favored customers who receive early allocation cars frequently sell them back to the dealer for a premium, and then the dealer re-sells the car after adding its own "price adjustment." It's not a matter of being willing to pay a specific amount over list price in return for getting an early car. Each new Ferrari is custom-ordered, and in order to be able to spec. your own car, you have to have a solid relationship with the dealer. This keeps prices up, and preserves the exclusivity of the Ferrari brand. It may not be the best way to allocate vehicles, but it does appear to contribute to customer loyalty, even though it has a coercive aspect to it. Fred

Depends on when you want it? If you want it rather soon than I believe your half way there. For atleast the first 6 months.

Thanks, I understand how the process works but I've never ordered a new Ferrari before so I doubt I'll be able to get an allocation. I'm talking about the "used" market when the car first comes out.

Ya I think that if you are going to want to get into a 488 within months of their release, it will be atleast 100k over msrp. I remember 458 Spiders were 450k for the first 6 months of their release. Crazy

I'm sure those that purchased the 458 for a $100K over sticker back in 2010 are thinking it was a great allocation of financial resource. ;-) Had a friend who paid that for one of the first 599's. He won't be doing that again....

I'd be surprised if much over msrp. But lets see if demand is actually there. Lots of "reviews" will hit when the car comes out saying it's the best ever, so that will mislead, I mean, drive buyers to make a move.

It will definitely go for over sticker price when it first comes out, but my sense is that the anticipation and demand is much less than it was for the 458. I don't know that you'll be able to get one the month they come out, but I would bet on $50k over sticker price being enough to get one in the first 6 months.
