    Hello Folks,

I have a 91 TR with 8k miles that is in very good condition, all services up to date and the differential has been ungraded, etc.

The car has had a snapping / creaking noise from the right rear when you let the clutch out. It does it once just when the drivetrain is loaded and the car starts to move. It will also do it sometimes when you unload the drivetrain while stopping.

It sounds like it is in the suspension, or perhaps the frame or body is flexing.

I have spent a lot of time trying to finds the source of the noise. There are no leaks, all suspension bushings look good, and the frame connectors where the rear bolts to the main frame are tight. The car has had the noise for the last 1000 miles. The car drives very well.

When it first started I suspected the differential, and I had the differential replaced with the gripper unit from Ricambi. The noise never changed. and the differential that came out of it was perfect, no cracks.

Has anyone heard of this before, or can offer any advice.

    Marc

may be the right inner or outer drive shaft joint? put the car on a hoist and inspect.

So the sound appears when the drivetrain/suspension is being loaded. I would get a TRUSTED partner and have him put on the parking brake, put in gear and let out the clutch slightly. Just enough to load up the drive train and make the car want to go fore ward. Stand off to the side with the engine cover open and listen. Mystery noises suck.

This may sound crazy. Check your right front. When I had my b*tch I swore I heard something from the right rear under load. Crazy but it was the right front wheel bearing and the right front caliper inner pistons were frozen. I know it makes no sense but give a look see. Good time to check things over anyway.
