    Good morning everbody,

after not using the car for 8 months, I experienced today some problems with the HVAC.

    First problem:
I seem not to have sufficient air flow inside the cabin. I hear the fan turning quicker and making more noise when I select more flow on the knob, but the airflow itself generally is very low, no matter if re circulation is pressed or not. Did someone experience something like that already? When I open the front lid, the fan looks okay and everything perfectly clean. Is there any filter which maybe needs cleaning? Can't find any filter in the maintenance manual nore on ricambi website. It also seems the the flap direction the flow to the different outlets is working fine. The clutch of the AC compressor is also engaging properly, at least I can hear it from the cabin when acting on the "stop" button. Also, the heater is working perfectly fine.

    2nd problem:
The Air con is not cooling anymore, which it still was last summer. Last Air-Con service was done 3 years ago, although I do not exactly know what was done exactly. Everybody agrees that re-gasing is the first thing to do? I also ask to put the fluorescent stuff inside, in case its really leaking somewhere. However, loosing the charge within 3 years is quite bad I guess. Our emergency-bad-weather-japanese-low-cost car survived 13 years without re-gasing ...

Many thanks in advance for any replies.

    Best regards, Simon

Hi Simon! 3years is ok for a regas. There is a filter inside the heater box, however it is not a part you can replace easily, This filter is known to simply fall apart, however this would not be something to be worried about. Sounds to me like a trip to the a.c shop and a top up of gas should see your system cooling again. Also if your vent direction, heater and fan all work as intended then thats amazing!! Enjoy! :)

I would be interested in knowing about the filter you mention inside the heater box.
Exactly where is it and how is it accessed?

cf355 the filter is inside the heater box and is slid in just before the rotating barrel. I know this as i have just had my heater box out and stripped down to replace the water hoses that connect to the heater core. Im not aware of a replacement filter for this... :)

does anyone knows where is the fill connection for the 800g of R134a refrigerant and how can I access it?
I am pretty sure my non-ferrari AC shop does not know :)

In a 355, you need to remove the trunk liner of the front trunk. Then you will see 2 connection ports for the r134 refrigerant. Most shops will not know this unless they have done in once or twice before. It is not in the engine bay.

    hello yelcab,

just was in the garage and found both AC plugs already. Great forum anyway :)

Another "stupid" question (was to lazy to open the workshop manual):
RHS of HVAC unit are 4 fuse-plugs and 4 relays (the front one is not a relay, but some diode thing of 45A rating). The front fuse-plug is empty on my car,... is that normal?

The fuse should not be there unless you are trying to diagnose the ABS

for those who are interested in the result:

Went today to the AC shop and they measured that the AC is only cooling around 8degC.
They removed 280g of R134a, pressure tested everything and refilled 800g. Now it is cooling down by 22degC.

@Andy355: the filter you mentioned, can this be removed/inspected with the HVAC box still in the car or is does anything big need to go?

    Simon
