This is not one collection but rather a random selection of interiors over the years. And what do you mean by souless? That would interest me.

 

A couple more of odd-ball dashes: 111 and 0425. Sorry; 0425 won't load, but I thought you might find the wood bezels on 111 interesting.

I owned a 330 2+2. One of the most impressive pieces was the exotically turned ashtray cover. Unnecessarily gorgeous.

Duh, yes I get that. Perhaps I should of said collection of photographs instead. By souless I mean they are older cars with their history erased. Basically made to look like no one has done anything with them, like they have never lived. That to me is souless. I think there is something tacky when the history of a car is eradicated to this extent.

 

Was 0425GT new in those pics, or did it just have a new speedometer?

Well the TDF I showed is completely original inside. That is not souless. Secondly I like that the cars are restored to as when new. They are pieces of art. It is like when the owner first picked the car up. I prefer this than an interior that is completely de-lapidated! I am not showing race-cars I am showing for the most part GT cars and elegant ones. That is a big difference.

Nice thread. And indeed quite some pieces of art in those days. Regarding the remark of pearl inserts, aren't these the metal pins of the wheel? Mine 212 export had these and were metal pins to attach the wood to the metal rim. On the other side of the wheel some extended pins where mounted in order to get more grip....nice but after driving the MM in the Appenines the blisters where on my hands.....

What a diversity in those days!

Oscar- you could absolutely right- they just look like mother of pearl and feel so smooth that I termed it this way. Probably metal but it looks so gorgeous combined with the wood. I hope your enjoying your 275 GTB and one day we should do one big re-union together with many 275 GTB from all over Europe. Edmond

 

I assure you, upholstery is a subject that is not overlooked by all. I can personally testify to spending years studying materials and techniques utilized by Ferrari's chosen coach-builders.

 

This is one way of describing many of these.If we agree that one (anything) is born with an individual soul that is there for a life time, then I wonder how many of these interiors represents the "soul" of the original. Not many. Many of the collectors of the "antique" vintage machines seem, in many cases, to make a much better effort at this. tonga's crew
