Is the Canadian market that much different from the US market? The 1998 F355 was the first production car with a F1 gearbox and is historic and great for that simple reason alone but manuals command a premium in every F car variation that was offered with both transmission choices since the F355.
Looks like Marshall Goldman's prices for these are much dumber than I imagined. Come on Dave... The second car you linked has been sold for some time. The FCI car looks like a good deal for someone who wants an F1. That being said, those two cars cannot be reasonably compared to a 1900 mile, seemingly perfect condition car at Marshal Goldman. One more note for the theme of this thread... It appears the black 95 GTB listed her for 105k is pending sale.
Another "Sold" car pops up again. This one is the Rossa Barchetta 98 F1 GTB that was at Black Horse Motors. Now for sale with 300 additional miles on it. Ferrari 355 Coupe | eBay
"Sold". Why would you question that John? The car was in fact sold to a guy local to me about a year ago. He's now selling it again and moving on to something else. Bah humbug.
Were the two cars I just referenced posted previously in this thread? I don't recall... and I certainly don't have 10 hours to go searching around this thread
Yes Edit- Was discussed but in a different thread http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/492754-black-355-gtb-ebay-69k.html
MANUAL vs. F1 Has anyone ever had enough interest to try to sort the facts. I 'think' it is a fact that Ferrari sold about two F1s for every manual after the F1 was released. So that says 'something'. Of course I realize that new vs. used valuations may vary. FWIW, when I started my search for a 355, I preferred the F1, but I ended up with a manual. So I don't have a real preference between the two. A couple of posts ago we had two diametrically opposed opinions of relative value stated as fact. (We all like to think that our opinions are fact, don't we?) But are they?
Well of course trans choice is always going to come down to personal preference but I agree with others that it seems 3 pedal are bringing a premium across the board. (regardless of initial production)
I wanted to introduce myself as I am loving all the Ferrari stories and smiles that follow. I currently own three Porsches (Early 3.0 turbo, 996 Turbo, and a 86 Carrera). I'm finally ready to add to my collection and would love to start with what I consider the best of the bunch (a F355). I've been following Fchat for months now and need some help. The car I'm interested is the following; Ferrari 355 F1 Spider | eBay The car does not come with any service history, and was bought at mecum last year. Darren, the general manger at black horse motors has been very helpful and seems like a straight shooter. Can any of you shed some light on this car? I would love to pull the trigger, but need some advice from you guys as the experts in the field.
F1 355's are more rare if I recall correctly. The F1 GTS being the rarest, with only 500ish produced.
Berlinetta - 4,871 Manual 3,829 F1 1,042 Spider - 3,717 Manual 2,664 F1 1,053 GTS - 2,577 Manual 2,048 F1 529 In order of rarity: 1) F1 GTS 2) F1 Berlinetta 3) F1 Spider 4) Manual GTS 5) Manual Spider 6) Manual Berlinetta
Ive owned both and love both......I have a manual GT3 so my flappy paddle 355 is perfect.........its always good to have a piece of strange once in a while ;-)
That's anyones guess I suppose. I'd imagine somewhere inbetween 1/4 and 1/2 of the production made its way over to North America. Japan seems to have a healthy 355 inventory every time I check. Europe goes without saying.
With respect, that is rubbish. I'd agree that in this small section of a small section of Ferrari owners the manual car is "valued higher". Does that translate to the real world outside this website? No.
My 355 is the last 3 pedal car I will own. if I had not wanted a 95 I would have opted for an F1 355.
I've said it plenty of times before, but to any prospective owner: Do NOT be influenced by anything you read here which tells what 355 you "should" buy. Buy the car that YOU want, in the spec YOU want, in the best condition you can find for what you can afford. Ignore everything else. It's all crap.
So for the record, F355, 360, 430, 575, 599, 612, in the real world these are the same price F1 and gated? Aside from CS/Scud that does not seem to be reality.
