There have been FoH events there that will get you on the track, so the short answer is "yes"!!!

Get real, Red McCombs keeps that in his office safe!

Epstein has it, in the trunk of his car......

I hope to see Kevin's Bike Riding school transfer over from Road Atlanta, when his deal there is out, or maybe before??

Sorry, it isn't quite like that. Big corporate events isn't the usual thing. There are events for the enthusiasts. However, the majority of them are not for beginner track days. They are usually solo approved events. I've instructed more than a handful and had to check people off for insurance purposes. Some events have been specific club events, some HDPE's, and others are private events from out of town or out of the country.

There's an event coming up in Sept, and also November.

If you would like to organize an event yourself, go for it. The sticker price isn't always the going rate. It depends what you would like. Catering? Transponders? Does your insurance require ambulances there? Lots of expenses because it is a first class facility and it is quite large. Corner workers also need to be paid out. So, that ~55K/day track price might be a bit expensive, but it also might be less than that depending on what you negotiate. Much less in some instances.

BTW Historic F1 cars will be back at this year's USGP...

Historic F1 racing returning to COTA/USGP

These guys are called Masters Historic Racing. Does anyone here know if they're the same group as Historic Grand Prix, the smaller group that was there last year, or a third entirely different group?

That was a lot of fun, with the Ducati Island.
Inside the track parking and so forth..

    No flags, this year, though......

I could be the new PR Officer....LOL!

It looks like I was struck from the list of active Volunteers.
I'd better go talk to Red McCombs.....maybe he can fix it.....

The original investors have wanted out, or at least a reduced share position, since the intial construction over runs....

It would be an interesting spread sheet to review....hard costs, tavo's settlement, the deal with Kevin Schwantz......the salaries, of all those levels of managment.

They should all go tour TWS, in College Station.

We've been talking a lot about COTA in the Hellmund's new project thread, but this is probably a better place for this...

Jason Dial, president & CEO of Circuit of the Americas, is out

Exclusive: Jason Dial, president and CEO of Circuit of the Americas, is out | Autoweek

I think we could all see the writing on the wall when Epstein hired Rittenberry to be the "Chief Strategy Officer", whatever that is ... just like when he brought Dial in with Sexton still here, and like when he brought Sexton in with Hellmund still here. The revolving door continues to spin away at COTA.

I have no idea how they recover after this last race. Seriously... when they have Elton John as their entertainment, you know they are lost marketing wise.

You couldn't find any rock or heavy metal band who wanted to play a concert? It's freakin' Austin for heaven's sake.

The weather hurt them but blaming it on the Mexico race is lame. They had a year to prepare to get more US visitors interested in coming. They blew it. Maybe some fresh blood will find a way. Change can be good.

Yes, no flags, which is so stupid in my opinion... So the team gives us 1000 flags to hand out each year at the race for free. This year, no flags allowed.. Last year the same flag cost $35.00 inside the track and since we were giving them away for free, well they didn't like it so they removed all flags.. Funny thing is they used our flag assembly area in Parking Lot N for their advertisement for dry camping!! They also gave the team permission to give out the flags.. LOL!!

    Agree completely.

Leadership at COTA has seem completely lost for quite a while now. They need some fresh ideas desperately.

You have actually hit the nail on the head.

Since day 1, a Team of COTA management, has tried their damnest to be "just like Disneyland", or "just like the Kentucky Derby" or even "just like an NFL football game"...

It's as if they made NO EFFORT to personalize the event that you were in TEXAS!!!

Aside from the LeMans event, they did hire local music talent there (it got rained out!), but at least they tried.

Elton John this year showed exactly how lost they are.
We walked out, as the crowd tromped thru ankle deep mud towards the stage.

I couldn't resit giving some folks directions though.
Once a Wayfinder, always a Wayfinder!!

No, the Mexico money was the largest fan base, behind the US natives, in the first years of operation.

There's NO question that Mexico City F1 was indeed, Tavo's revenge.....it took huge market share, although we still met fans from Mexico that were attending both events.

That's the well heeled fans, I am sure the poorer fans made a choice, and went to Mexico City.
