Hi to all of you .. I have posted this in other areas of F chat and would like to say thanks to those who have already replied ..

Pics to follow as suggested ...

I have owned a 360 Spider now for over 2 years , in TDF Blue /Crema and is in absolutely superb condition .. fully got the Ferrari bug .

About 6 months ago i also fancied getting an older ferrari as a project .. I saw quite a few 308 GT4 which needed huge work - then 2 months ago i came across an 83 Mondial QV in Rosso with full biscuit leather interior which has been in dry storage for approx 8 years but not run for 3 years, . The bodywork and paint is fabulous as it was restored fully in around 2000 { lots of photos of rebuild/spray } just needs a good detail polish ; the interior is in time warp condition and looks as if it has not been sat in but i will reconnollise ; engine 48000 genuine miles , theres also loads of service history / bills / original order and delivery notes / original tools .. the car basically needs recommisioning for road use .. I intend carrying out a full fuel system/ injector/engine service including cam belt change before attemting to start .. then its full brakes and clutch check/ overhaul

Starting the project in 3 weeks time and intend running a thread to update progress ..

I would appreciate any initial advice or guidance, particularly around the electrical system as it looks from previous posts that this can be problematic .. Upgrades etc

    Thanks in advance

Great you found the Mondial group , welcome to the family.

Sounds like you have a nice car.

If the fuel was drained you might not need to do anything but add fuel!

Mine had a major 15 year prior and 10K miles put on and basically not driven the last three, the PO changed the waterpump when prepping for the sell, I did drive it a few hundred miles before performing major service

Definately get a new battery and you can start checking all the switches and electrical components. Recommend to go through the fuse box and reseat all fuses and look for any overheating of the large white connector that is on the inner vertical edge of the fuse box.

    Look forward to your posts!

I'm the most un-technical and un-mechanically competent forum member you'll find, so will be of little use to you, but great to hear a local (in this global forum) Mondial being brought back to life and I can assure you that you will have growing emotional attachment to your new purchase in the coming weeks!
P.S: you have my favourite colour combo on a 360 :).

    lots of helpful repair tips

especially look for his Mercedes Benz 600 restoration project,
many of the techniques can be used on Ferrari as well.

Looks like the car has been resprayed, the side emblems (pininfarina) were removed and left on the rear seats!
Looks in great condition though, hopefully clean carfax/equivalent in UK!

Yes thats correct about the pinifarina badges ... not sure why they were left off, but one of the jobs is to replace them .

There are no wing shields with the car ; anyone know if they were originally fitted to this model or were they an extra ?

Shields on any Mondial you see are after market. They did not offer custom shields on wings.

    Cheers

    both cars are simply beautiful!!

    Welcome!

I can say, my car was in relatively bad shape...the joy and personal gratification I got restoring it was a huge part of why I have been enjoying this car so much.

It is fun off and on the road!

You'll find lots of resources and overall I've found the horror stories largely exaggerated. As long as you don't have some fatal flaws in the car (engine, chassis) you'll find this journey hugely rewarding...and the Mondial community? Awesome...I love being part of this niche car group. It's like the secret club inside the secret club.

Welcome, and I look forward to seeing your posts in our brotherhood!!

Now that's strange, the horse in the steering wheel is looking to the right. Probably wondering where the old wheel on the right has gone! :)

I would lean more to the good side. I remember reading in a book about Mondials it saying if you have a sunroof decide if you want it either left open or closed and don't touch it after that because it is not a question of IF it will break but rather when it will break.

    Not sure, but the carpet that was covering them is loose in the footwell { upside down }
