Hello everyone I'm new to here since I just picked up my Ferrari 458 spider last Saturday...uhh...but when I first start the car and I revved it to 8000RPM since I really don't know I should wait until the engine warm up...then the engine light come up says:engine control system failure...it takes almost four days for the service department to find out the problem, they did changed the sparking plugs and rest the computer program few times...but the light is still on...So I'm here to seek helps!

    Few things:
1,The dealer drove the car to me before I revving it,and he shut it done and I started it up and I revvied it.
    2,That day is hot
3,The car can still start and drive normally after the revving.
4,I really don't know anything about not to revving after just start the engine so.....

Thank you very much to everyone who can help me![I felt really bad can't sleep blablabla....]

coming from 360 territory, i doubt that 8000rpm is related to the check engine light, espeically the car's been driven before you rev it.
it might be that when you buying the car, the previous owner hided that cel by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting.

458 could be different from 360, so take my words with grain of salt.

Ok what is your language as I think it is not English

Are you waiting for the engine check after turning on ?

The English manual describes it as follows : Once the system check has been completed, the gearbox display is activated and the letter “P” (Parking) or “N” (Neutral) will be displayed.

Is the car new or secondhand ?

Does it have the standard exhaust ?

Ask the dealer what code does the diagnostic give against the check light

If you do not wait for the engine check it will not start correctly
    Dealer should resolve
    OK
No the actual code from a diagnostic machine

Is your selling dealer an official dealer - I think not but it is an official dealer who can best diagnose the issue

Who starts a car and immediately revs to 8000 rpm.. The dealer should be able to connect to the SD3 and obtain the trouble code. Then fix it.. By dealer I mean Ferrari dealer..

Smartin up. I know there is excitement with Ferrari purchase and ownership but a rev to 8000 rpm right after start? Come on.. Plus can you fill out your profile.. Its always nice to know who we are speaking with.. Plus an introduction would be nice.

...you bought yourself a great present. Take some time to learn something about or you can damage it.

Revving any engine - warmed up or cold - to 8000 rpm in neutral is not a good idea. There is no load on the engine and bad things can happen.

That said, I doubt this is the source of your light.

My 360 lights up with 'check control' or some such thing when I turn the key one notch. The manual says to wait until the OK comes up before starting. Then I turn the key to engage the starter.

Take your time - get to know the car before you flog it.
