I doubt it. It will hold it's value just fine. Once people realize the engine sounds like crap with the turbo hindering the F1 noise, they'll think otherwise. To me, the 458 lines look better. The huge side scoop ruins the smooth lines. Nothing like 9000 redline with the N/A F1 sound. Don't get me wrong it's a nice car if you're tracking it. All that extra power is useless on the streets. I'm keeping my 458 Spider and listening to the sweet music behind me.

A note of caution for those comparing sound tracks of the two cars on computers. Unless you are in a theater with 15" sub woofers you will totally miss the big difference. The normally aspirated engines have significant base notes below 200HZ. a standard 8" base speaker you get with most computer ad-ons cannot reproduce that frequency or the the thump thump of the big NA engines like the 15" drivers that are good down to 20HZ.

I do not think that NA will be enough to fight depreciation. Yes, it will help a bit but not enough to save it. You could've argued when the 458 came out that the manual transmission would save the F430. Yes, the manual cars do go for a bit of a premium but again, it is not enough to fight depreciation. Once the 488'***** the U.S. you will start to see a curve.

Definitely agreed, however I really think it comes down to the 488 supply. If Ferrari can pump out enough to meet demand (like the 458) then its gonna get ugly.

Yes, 458 sounds a lot better. I compare it to a sexy saxophone sound versus a trombone for the 488.

And there are plenty of people who won't give a crap about the sound and plenty who think the 488 sounds just fine (from what I've heard so far it's got a lot of F430 about it and I don't hear anyone slating the sound of that car). At the same time they'll love all the extra performance that leaves you standing, the sweeter handling, the SS2, the fact that the Spider is as stiff as the coupe (which it certainly isn't in the 458), the inevitably better build quality, the better ride quality and the styling which retains the beautiful proportions of the 458 but adds a serious dash of aggression while sorting out the one weak area of the 458's styling, the nose. The very fact that the 488 is, in essence, a 458Plus means I wouldn't be too sure about 458s holing up. Other than sound and a hair's breadth of throttle response that, most of the time, won matter one jot, what has the 458 got over the 488?

Currently a Tesla with ludicrous mode will go 0-60 in 2.8s. That would leave the 488 in the dust. Pretty soon, these electric cars will smoke everyone. I wonder how all of us Ferrari owners feel? For me I could care less how fast they go.

Totally agree! What I wish they did was have NA engine in 488. The body style is starting to grow on me. Having driven turbos for most of my life, I don't find the excitement with all that torque anymore. Everything else the 488 is a lot better car than 458. I just can't get over the turbo sound that it emits. I'd like to hear more when 458 owners upgrade to 488 and get their perspective.

Who Cares how fast a TESLA goes,:) it does not have the DNA of Enzo in it and doesn't make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up as your ear drums are transmitting the sweetest music known to a Petrol head :) I love the sound of my 458 and will keep it until I am to stiff to get in and out of it. :)
