The wife and I were on the North Dallas Tollway a few days back. Not uncommon to see cars or trucks weaving their way up through traffic to get a better view of an F-Car as you guys know. Usually the passenger ( or driver) will have his cell phone out to snap a couple of photos going down the road. Anyway, I notice a cop car aggressively working through traffic, thinking maybe he was going to pull me over for a bit of spirited driving to get onto the tollway and merged into traffic. Nope! The officer, in his cruiser, pulls up next to me in the lane to my left, snaps a photo with his phone, gives me a thumbs up, and speeds off!
I'm 5'10" and 160 lbs. It's the perfect size to fit in the best cars ever made. I don't know how you do it if you're fat and I would think that you miss out on some great cars if you're larger.
5'11, 175 lbs, and I have no trouble squeezing in and out of my Exige. Admittedly, I do use half a pound of butter, three shoe horns and a couple of bungee cords to do it, but still.... It can be done!
I have said in the past that I don't like cars that I sit in. I prefer cars that I wear. (My final decision point in buying the Exige - which the guys at the dealership found extremely amusing for some reason - was to go home and get my helmet, so I could see how fast I could get out of it with the helmet on.)
That's it! Next time I go car shopping, I'm bringing my helmet! And asking the salesperson if they could go on a test drive with me!
A lot of times people like that are driving a highly polluting, old gas-guzzling beater. "So did you know your truck puts out more pollution than 1000 of my cars?"
Every time I drive my silver 1974 Maserati Bora some idiot at a traffic light gives me a thumbs up and has to yell "Back to the Future" or, if he's a techie, he'll ask me about the "flux capacitor. Come on guys, its a mid engine Maserati, not freakin' Delorean...
A guy walked up to me and said, " if you want to impress me you'd have a GTR". I just looked at my son and said' " why in the hell would I want to impress him?"
I'll never understand someone that comes up to you and see's you with your dream car and them comments about that it would be better if it was their dream car or makes a comment on how they like another model better. Perhaps they are just trying to make conversation, but I do get mildly annoyed by comments like this.
at red light I was in 328 all of a sudden I hear from car next to me "Hey Man, I really like your car!" I look over and it's a smiling guy about mid 20's with a beautiful young woman in the passenger seat. "I really like your girlfriend!" I said with a smile. He replies: "Wanna trade?" Then the light changed.
You could have also replied "If you really wanted to impress me you would have an Odyssey Touring edition instead of a Grand Caravan".
