I drove by this sellers place,on my way back to Boulder, from A basin, had the seller on the phone,was told no need to come buy and inspect the car,it already sold ,to New York at the price of 285 k, needless to say, i kept on driving,After ski in Boulder sounded a lot better.

Roy do Lambo's sell better when they are in "vibrant" colors like orange and purple or more subtle and "evil" colors like black or grey?
Does that put the market between 120 and 130K? There's a 10% buyer's premium and an 8% seller's commission, so at $120K the buyer would be willing to pay $132K and the seller would net $110K -- too high of a spread? The car should then sell after the auction for $120-125K.
I can confirm the sale has closed as this car was mine. Michael at M Brandon Motorcars suggested listing the car on eBay for exposure and a deal was made very near ask soon after it was listed. This car is very close to perfect and is a great very low mileage, well documented example. I sold it because I am restoring a nero / bianco LP400 S3 and thus it is somewhat redundant in my collection and there are other Countach variants that I would like to pursue in the future. Still a good buy when compared to what Geno's DD sold for one week prior with a full restoration required, but I guess there is still a large value discrepancy between the side and down draft.

I think the market is speaking here..and the $130K range is the target area for a WELL sorted example. Glad you brought this one up...there are two identical Diablo's in the same sale...at first I just thought it was a double entry, but they have different mileage listed. Gonna be interesting.

Not to sound like Keith Martin, but based on how 2WD cars have been performing at auction, if there is a reserve I don't think either sell...we shall see. I still can't get over the fact that virtually the same exact cars are in the same auction...talk about bad timing.

More like bad business. If I consigned a particular variant of Lamborghini to a particular auction house, and they subsequently took on another of the exact same variant (to compete with mine), I wouldn't be too happy about that. In fact, when the market was more sensible, I used to get emails from one particular auction house and they would be along the lines of: "hey Joe, we have one Miura P400 S already so don't want another of that variant, do you know of anyone wanting to consign a P400 or SV?". The point is, it looked like some effort was made by auction houses to avoid multiple same-variant cars listed. Not anymore in this heady market. I note multiple Countach 25ths with the same house for example, perhaps the auction house figures they will all sell for strong numbers regardless. Either way, the law of supply relative to demand has to be detrimental to sellers as a basic concept.
I agree, it's a relatively fair price (especially in consideration with the ridiculous asks on 2WD cars recently...case in point: Lamborghini Diablo for Sale | Hemmings Motor News).
RM, Gooding, Bonhams will still do this for the most part. This car is crossing the block at Mecum, which is more of a volume game.
