Hi guys What an amazing weekend it was at the Paul Ricard track, with no less than 5 FXXK (and one on static display). They are gorgeous and a delight to hear (though I still prefer the more brutal 599XX as far as sound is concerned. Here is a 150+ HD pics report of the friday. More will come, including glowing brakes pics later. I've noticed on the 599XX and FXX, they both have roll cage installed, however the FXX K doesn't have it. Is it mandatory for race cars to install roll cage?
Hi, Totally agree, Nicolas : it was an amazing meeting ! Here's my selection with 458 challenge, F1 clienti and obviously the XX.. https://picasaweb.google.com/100135472644301773345/FerrariRacingDaysLeCastellet23Au26Juillet2015#
You cannot really compare. The GTE and GT3 are built around a specific regulation and are built to maximise performance as a function of those rules and the BoP The XX programme is the development of a track car that is free from any regulation where technology is applied freely without concern for anything other than performance. The car is heavier than a GTE/3 but has twice the bhp....it also generates a huge amount of down force. The K is easy to drive quickly but is much more complicated to squeeze the very quick times out of. There is a lot to keep the driver busy on board!! Then there is the question of tyres. Nothing compares to a Michelin Confidential as used in the WEC. The Pirelli tyres for the K are in a development process and while they are quite good there is room for improvement. What is interesting here is not just the Kers but the sophistication of the various on board controls (abs/traction/ediff/etc) that have reached an amazing level of sophistication
Great insights from someone with a boatload of experience in both types of cars I believe the current streetcars benefit a lot from the developments made in the XX-programs.
