So true, and as with all first-of-series they take a while to find their day in the sun, but when they finally do they are much-appreciated for being the original concept.

Sublime would be a good word.

This image of half-a-dozen P400 coming down the 'line at Sant Agata in early 1968 underscores my assertion that some cars came with the wheel spinners black-anodized, in the recent debate about different finishes applied when the cars were in production.

With the exception of the 'eyelashes', don't you think the SV is closer in concept to what Gandini originally had in mind? I refer to the somewhat awkward relationship between the rear wheels and the wheelarch on the P400, that, to my eyes, throws the aesthetics off kilter. I can't imagine Gandini would have been thrilled with the way this area of the P400 looked either - none of his original sketches have that space between wheel and bodywork.

In my opinion, the SV fully realised the potential of his original design, and P400 didn't quite get it right.

    Just a thought.

Im of the camp the earlier cars are more beautiful, not as muscular, but more beautiful.

P400's in particular set me on fire. I love the black trim all around, I think it suits the car best. I also admire the wood wheels and wind up windows in any vintage car.

Chrome on the Miura seems out of place in my eyes. I like the prototype, no frills looks of the early P400 cars.

If you dont like the rear because the tires dont fill out the fenders, put in some SV rears and the problem is solved. I like them both ways, but I do prefer larger wheels in back. Save the mags for showing and put some modern kit on to drive it.

Photo taken from the internet, I dont know who to credit but its a fantastic image.

Anyone know of a blue SV that was recently purchased by someone in New Orleans? It wasn't John or me.

    I agree with this also.

Perhaps the best solution is to have both a P400 and an SV!

    With pleasure.

11 years ago I did a back-to-back test jumping from one of my SVs into the P400, and vice-versa, back-and-forth all day long.

It was an eye-opening experience, documented in my book.

    They both have their allure.

Great pics! I'll have to reread; you really can't go wrong either way.

I was told it came from the UK. Would like to talk to the fellow owner if you can get any information. They don't exactly grow on trees in these parts.

The number of Miura S, from Bertone collection, is 4425.
Now the entire collection is on sale but only entirely, and with the stipulation that must stay all in Italy.

of course there are also the numbers of Espada (s/n 8274), Countach (ZA9C005AOHLA12147) and the Genesis (S274-5 88).
