I just got a 1993 Mondial T and I would like to put in a modern stereo system with bluetooth. Any recommendations?

    Congrats and welcome.
    My recommendation - don't do it ! :)
Keep it nice and original and don't let any telephone calls or music interrupt the symphony behind your ears!

In your Tesla, it's like an empty concert hall - perfect for music of any sort.

In your Mondial, with the turn of the key, you instantly have an Italian opera going on in full swing, right behind your head. And the best part is, your front row seat comes free with the purchase of the car. There's no need to buy expensive electronic equipment. Get what I'm drivn' at ??

    Cheers,

    Hank

I did this exercise.....basically the decks are all about the same...what it comes down to is you'll need to have a good amp, sub, mid, tweets...

I was too cheap/lazy to go this route and just got the Pioneer deck bluetooth for $60 - got polk speakers for $100 and spent one afternoon replacing 25 year old crumbling cones...I looked at other decks - but they were all about the same. You basically use the deck just as the transporter anyway - the amp/speakers/sub is what really counts.

Sounds about like a 5/10...but 'good' enough for me.

    Welcome to the '93 club!

The type of stereo depends on how important sound quality is to you. Personally, I like to hear the engine, but for those long drives, I installed a Sony head unit with JBL speakers. It has every modern feature like Bluetooth, iPhone dock, Pandora, hands free phone etc.

Aesthetics are important, so I chose a black/chrome faceplate that blends nicely into the dash. It almost looks stock. For serious sound quality, you will have to install amps, subwoofers and additional speakers. Just keep in mind that space is limited and resale may be affected if you attach a bunch of components and cut holes everywhere for speakers.

FWIW, I have a period correct Sony with the Ferrari on the faceplate. I believe it was out of a 355, supplied by a board member. I upgraded speakers, and it makes for a deent sound system. But as anyone with a V8 Ferrari knows, the stereo is the least of the sounds one is listening to!!

    Regards,
    Jerry

A decent stereo is essential in a road-going Ferrari. For a Mondial - 1980s music only, never mind anything I may have posted in the past. It's all about balance. The stereo speakers are in the front of the doors with tweeters in the dash. The Engine sound from behind makes for the perfect surround sound experience. Get something that will take a memory card and choose your music wisely. No need for external Amp or Sub-woofer.

Keep your semi-automatic antenna wired to the console switch and never touch it. The radio should never be used.
