I just replaced a couple of ignition wires on the back bank of my 308-V8. I want to make sure I placed the wires in the right place.

I did #4 at far right ( facing engine from rear )and #1 far left. The rest in between. Is this correct?

the cylinder layout for the 308 is in a U shape

looking at the engine from the bellhousing or driver side of the car it is

    8 1
    7 2
    6 3
    5 4

    Correct.

The firing order is in your Owner's Manual and on a sticker in the engine bay IIRC.

The wires DO NOT "cross banks" on the two dizzy models. Each bank is essentially a stand alone 4-Cylinder engine.
